It is an inevitably trend that various disciplines interact and share the fruits in modern society. For one field of study, the knowledge and experience from extrinsic realms redound to its development greatly. However, the assertion that significant advance of any field is merely based on the outsider’s knowledge and experience exaggerates the function of foreign factors.  

Admittedly, everything in the universe is comprehensively related. So do the scientific realms. According to authoritative information, about 85 percentage of scientific fruits are based on or share other experts’ research results. Especially, certain basic disciplines, such as math or physics, play a crucial role in the process of other realms. Without such mathematic theory or physical tool, few fields could advance continuously. And the even worse, scientist, who major in one field perennially, might focus on the problem and limited by the wonted thinking mode. Concentrating on a narrow horizon often results in the failure. Under such a circumstance, the fresh air of outsider might be just a catalyst insiders need indeed. The experts from outsider can bring forward novel perspective to the same problem, which might turn out to be a good idea or the solution. Numerous outsiders impulse the advance of one field significantly. John Nash, the winner of Noble in economics in 1994, is an exact example for this point. He showed great talent in math and received the doctor degree from Princeton University. Relying on his deep knowledge of math, Nah bring forward a paramount economic theory which bring the Noble to him. It is possible that one discipline sheds some light on others, in a not dissimilar way, one field of study could accelerate the step by resorting on the outsiders who bring theirs knowledge and experience.

While, if we cast a look back at the history of science, we should not lose the sight of fact that the extrinsic factor is not the only impetus to the development of study. The endeavor of insiders cannot be neglected.  It is obvious that experts in their fields have made great efforts in researching it for a long period, and in turn, they not only have acquainted themselves with the history of this research, but also have the ability to forecast the future. On the contrary, since lacking of systemic and integrated knowledge of this field, outsiders only provide some sporadic sparkle or original idea, which cannot drive this field to gain significant advance. As a matter of fact, a part of disciplines, such as pure theory research, must depend on the effort of themselves, rather than outsiders, to promote the advance. For example, Chen Jingrun was an illustrious mathematician, who resolved one problem of Goldbach’s conjecture. He lived in an only six square meter house, what he had were a pen and a lamp except his enthusiasm and genius. Just under such wretched conditions, he gained tremendous achievement after consuming several sack of paper for computing, American mathematician A weil said that Chen Jingrun just likes a lonely alpinist climbing the Himalayas peak.  

In most case, besides the endeavor of insiders and the fresh air of outsider, there are still numerous factors which influence on the advance of one field, such as the completed results of former research, the sufficient founds, proper tentative strategy and acumen leader. Therefore, scholars should make good use of current advantage condition to research deep down their fields and absorb the novel idea from outsiders to impel the development of field greatly.
