14    Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.

Nowadays we hear some students complain that “Attending classes should be optional”. These arguments are put forward in evidence. Here are some of them: Large lecture classes always have been  inefficient; hard-shelled classes have deprived students' go-aheadism of arranging their own schedules; great excitement or interests are often treaded out by a tedious lecture or a flavorless subject. However, as far as I am concerned, attending classes is not only helpful but quite necessary to us college students for the reason thereinafter.

First of all, a good teacher does more than just dictate information and answers. In other words, an active teacher can stimulate the students to learn from themselves by asking questions, by posing problems, and most of all by giving the students’ additional information in the form of documentary films or pictures on the subject. Thus, through attending classes, students could receive the benefit of the teacher’s knowledge as well as the text knowledge.

In addition, the more important characteristic of an academic lecture is the pertinence to tests. As is known to us all, the only standard measurement of a college student’s academic progress is test. Organized classes provided by school always point out a subject’s core knowledge more clearly than tell of general knowledge. Nevertheless, students who study alone can not take care of such keystones. The possible result can be imagined: some students at least waste much time in studying little important knowledge or even fail in the exam.

Last but not least, attending classes teaches more than just facts. It not only teaches students how to learn, how to ask questions and how to read textbooks and then search for some answers themselves in class, but cultivates students’ minds by reminding them of respecting teachers and doing a favor to other classmates in the meantime. Since a good teacher-student relationship can be mutually beneficial, a bad relationship such as skipping classes can discourage the teacher from teaching and make other students' attending at a loss.

From all of the above reasons what I mentioned, I wholeheartedly disagree with the opinion that attending classes ought to be optional. And I firmly believe attending classes is always an effective way to study academic subjects for university students.

感觉第2段和第4段有点重复，小的语法错误还是注意点好~另外，谁叫你交得这么迟嘛~那天写这个的时候我还是在晚自习冒着冒犯班主任的危险写下的~
