There has been a growing concern with regard to the obligation for governments to see to the immediate problems in these days. Yet it does not follow that the solutions to the anticipated problems of future have to wait awhile. Both the immediate problems and the anticipated ones are so important for the well-being of society that not a single government could afford to overlook either.
Beyond all doubt, facing diverse pressing problems, social problems in particular, such as grinding poverty or drug abuse, governments need to make immediate response (responses 吧) without any hesitance (不错,TS出来了) . For one major responsibility of every government is to maintain a stable and peaceful society. Apparently, a society with a high unemployment or crime rate have (has) difficulties in guaranteeing its members a harmonious life. Likewise, a country that lacks efficiency to deal with severe natural disasters is unlikely to be able to ensure its people’s safety. For instance, a medical emergency relief system and reconstruction fund are badly needed for regional disasters like tsunami or earthquake, which frequently happen (happens) in countries like Japan or Indian. Also, an effective tracking system should be built up to prevent such disasters. Otherwise, people would suffer a lot from losing their properties or even their lives, consequently, the whole society would be involved in a state of disorder. Simply put, without solving such emergent problems as soon as possible, governments fail to satisfy the basic needs of their people, and thus the stability of society is vulnerable.
Though it is imperative for governments to make great efforts to solve the immediate problems of today, narrowly focusing on them while ignoring the anticipated ones of the future would render ruinous consequences for (to our) society If a government merely concentrates on spurring its stagnant economy without considering environment protection, like (like 去掉) then it may face a severe environmental crisis even if it realizes economic recovery. Or if a government does not fulfill the responsibility to comply with the non-nuclear treaty, but only considers enhancing its own power, then it is not only damaging the treaty but the peace of the country and of the whole world.
In fact, the immediate problems and the anticipated ones are not always at odds as they seem to be; they overlap each other in a great deal. While immediate problems, if not well addressed, may lead to discouraging perplexities in future, problems that expected to appear long after may be provoked by various potential factors and become immediate problems if no actions are taken to prevent them. Global warming is an apt illustration to this point. Mainly caused by the burning of fossil fuels and electrical pollution, global warming, a phenomenon governments used to attach little importance to, is now becoming a more and more intractable issue for countries to settle. Far from being a solution to global warming, carbon trading is a mere scrap of paper that seldom referred by irresponsible governments. If governments could take proper measures to solve this anticipated problem, it would not turn out to be (today’s situation) in the situation like today. And if from now on governments put enough efforts working on it, most likely the coming generations would suffer less. Again, governments of those countries that (are) often attacked by tsunami or earthquake should also work on medical facilities construction (the construction of medical facilities) in order to avoid further damages. Thus, solving current problems will pave the way for better management of crises ahead, while resolving the anticipated problems may in turn help to fix the problem (problems) today.
In brief, the immediate problems and the anticipated problems are coexisting in our society, neither of the two can be regarded as more urgent. To maintain a sustainable development, governments need to focus on solving the immediate problems; meanwhile, they should pay equal attention to resolving the anticipated problems.
