In any profession—business, politics, education, government—those in power should step down after five years. The surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership.
------正文------
I agree with the author that the leaders of any profession should be replaced regularly while it depends on various occasions whether the period of five years is considered suitable. However, it bears risks to change the leadership thus although changing leadership could revitalize the institution to some extent, it is unlikely to be the surest path to success.

To begin with, a constant leadership is likely to lead to corruption and power abuse, exerting negative influence upon the healthy functioning of the enterprise. For one thing, the leaders, no matter how brilliant he or she might be at first, would lose their logical judgment if they stay in the same position for their life time. With the prolonging of inauguration period, the leaders have to shoulder increasing pressure that might exceed the suitable extent eventually, followed by illogical decisions and refusing to accept others' suggestion. For another, the leaders tend to desire for more power after they have stayed in the same positions for long enough. As human being's desire is unlimited and could escalate regularly, the leaders would gradually develop a sense of dissatisfaction about their existing power and rights. Hence of great danger is the thirst for more power, which might lead to power abuse or corruption.

The paramount solution to this problem is that it brings in several advantages that could conquer the shortcomings of permanent leadership to replace the people in power with new leaders regularly,. First, such policies introduce competition into the leadership and anyone in the leading positions are well aware that once the leaders prove themselves incompetent to their jobs, they would give up the positions to someone with the charisma or capacities. Second, the fact that the leadership would be replaced stimulates the participation of the subordinations into the process of choosing the leaders and even making decision of the policies. And with a sense of participation, individuals in the groups would be more willing to obey the orders and carry out the policies. Finally, the whole group will benefit from the regular changes of leadership. Third, introducing new leadership injects novel views, pattern of administration into the institution, resulting in the stimulation of the group as a whole. With the neckbreak speed of social development, the administration should be updated abreast with the pace of social reforms. A new generation of leadership serves as an injection of fresh blood into the group by introducing the novel ideas.

However, it is open to discussion whether a period of five years is suitable while form my standpoint, five years should be fitted in most cases but on certain occasions, modification of the length is in need. As has been discussed above, if the period for leadership lasts too long, a series of disadvantages would undermine the interest of the group as a whole. On the other hand, if the period fails to last long enough, it may turn out that the enterprise, school or government are undergoing so frequent shift of leadership that the groups would suffer from numerous losses for the instability. One could imagine what would happen if a new leader who disagrees with his or her predecessor changes the plan before the tasks have not yet been accomplished. Up to this point, five years is generally suitable in most cases. Nevertheless, the period should be flexible on some occasions, especially in government. For instance, during wartime, the period of government leadership should be prolonged according to the situation so as to ensure the constant wartime policies be carried out.

When it comes to the surest path to success of the enterprise, I admit the revitalization through new leadership exerts positive influence but the potential risks might prevent the sure success. Although a new generation of leadership brings in input of new ideas, creative administration principles that revitalize the enterprise, the replacement pose potential risks which should not be ignored. It takes some time for the new leaders to be fixed into the new role and act soundly. Moreover, all of the new ideas might hardly be plausible hence the firms are likely to suffer some losses for the unsuccessful policies.

In sum, the leadership in any profession should be replaced regularly and a period of five years would be suitable in most cases. Furthermore, the revitalization through new leadership might hardly be the surest path to enterprise success necessarily. The revitalization comes abreast with potential risks.
Good luck and great success in the coming New Year.
