The passage and the recording discuss theproblem about the courses choice in the Sociology Department of StateUniversity.

In the passage we know that the facultiesof that department face the problem that they receive the negative comments andthen they decide to make a change about the curriculum. At present, thestudents are required to take 5 required courses and 3 additional electivecourses. They decide to add the required ones up to 5 and the other reduce to3. They think then broader topics could be covered in the courses for allstudents. This change would affect all students in the department immediately.

In the recording, someone talks about theproblem of the execution of that decision. The policy of the University forbidsthe rule to have effect on the students who are always in the partway of theprogram. Thus the ones who start the programs will complain because those onewho are in the partway can graduate with 5 required courses and 3 electivecourses. What the department can do is to recommend these students follow therule rather than to force them to do so.

口语很流利。但提两个建议：1.开头加一个总领的话，介绍一下材料讨论的什么话题；2.每个小要点注意区分开，加一些如first, second等的词
