It’s better to use own knowledge and experience to solve question, or ask other people for advice?

Critics in China always argue that Chinese students have less independency than American, who is thought to be more creativity, in solving questions. Other people reckon that more suggestions will be helpful in solving questions. In my point of view, problems are various so that solutions are diverse. People could find optimal solutions within amount of advices.

Firstly, individual knowledge and experience are limited by sorts of conditions. We are all common people with limited view scope which restrains our methods of dealing with problems. There is a famous story about blind and elephant. Five blinds touched different parts of an elephant: who touching leg description was pillar, who touching ear description was fan, who touching body description was wall, who touching nose description was pipe, who touching tail description was rope. If their descriptions combined, the picture of elephant might be correct. Thus, single person has his or her partial view in thinking which could be avoided with amount of advices. Moreover, people could choose a best solution within suggestions which hardly be thought in only one brain.

Secondly, asking other people for advice could avoid from failure and minimize difficulties. There is an adage in China “a single conversation across the table with a wise man worth a month's study of books". People would encounter many difficulties and need to attempt lots of times when they are seeking a good solution. If we obtained someone's experience of failure or guidance of conquerring difficulties, we could be more efficient in dealing with these problems. Advices like navigation marks floating on the sea and operator like ship, without these marks, ship need to find directions by itself wasting time and energy. Specialists' or experts' suggestions are more useful because of these experience are out of books we learned.

However, choice of solution must be fit for practical situation. As operator of solving questions, people should have his or her identity and independency especially critical thinking when receiving and selecting others' advices. Unless we follow these, we could not find optimal solutions.

In conclusion, people should ask for and adopt more advices when they solve questions. It is not only for comprehensibility but for efficiency and accuracy.
