More than earning a living, I believe that people go to work also for the sense of accomplishment and making friends.

In the first place, the sense of accomplishment is one goal that people attempt to reach by working. This point can be vividly illustrated by an example concerning my mother, who has worked since eighteen and retired last year. She was pleasant(pleased) in the first few days after leaving her position. However, she became extremely upset very soon, and she told me that she missed the old busy days so much and the feeling of uselessness drove her crazy. This phenomenon is exceptionally(especially) prevailing among retired people, who desire for(删掉for) a more meaningful life. Furthermore, provided we did not have work, what kind our lives will be? We will have plentiful time, nevertheless, no goals, no achievements, even no directions in our lives; it is possible that we will waste everyday in the same way, until eventually, not noticing the passing of the time and the changes occur around us---what a terrible life it would be! Consequently, working can lead to the sense of accomplishment, thereby satisfied about our living, which are we all need.
In addition, making friends can also account for why people work. A great many of relationships are established during working, and people rely on those relationships to live a healthy life. It is generally acknowledged that a person cannot stay excellent without a positive attitude towards life. Considering the high pressure people are having nowadays, keeping contact with friends is a fantastic way to balance our emotion. As the saying goes: happiness shared can be doubled, while suffering shared can be halved, I prefer to share everything with my friends and it gives me great mood everyday. Of course, there are numbers of means to make friends, whereas the ones being colleagues at the same time are irreplaceable, for we have identical goal and familiar characteristics, therefore a common language.
