Some people prefer to spend most of their time alone. Others like to be with friends most of the time. Do you prefer to spend your time alone or with friends? Use specific reasons to support your answer. The debate of how to spend time is prevalent these years. Is being alone most of time preferable, as a number of people advocated; or should we attach more significance on maintaining relationship with our friends? From my point of view, substantial although benefits the former choice enjoys are, it can never match with the advantages the latter leads to, when the following reasons are taken into account. u0 H* p {( q; Z

In the first place, staying with friends, talking to them, serve as an extremely ideal outlet for emotion and stress. The recent decades have witnessed the unparalleled boom of economy, and it is widely acknowledged that the by-products, especially the high-pressure people undertake(endure/undergo) in modern society, are endangering the balance of our lives remarkably. On this condition, I consider that spending more time with our friends is favorable for our health. As a saying goes: happiness shared can be doubled, while suffering shared can be halved: the ancient philosopher has told us that sharing our feelings with friends plays an independent role in our life. My friends and I always be(are always) together: we talk about everything happened in our lives; we do meaningful reading; we sing and dance. Hence, our lives are filled with laugh, and the stresses, coming from study, work, etc. disappear very soon.

Another reason for my preference is that exchanging thoughts with friends can broaden our horizon. No one can deny that what a person experienced, studied, and informed, is always limited, however, exchange what we know with others can better ourselves. Examples about this point are abundant in our society and I can point out a typical one. My major is Applied Mathematics, while my best friend, Gary Miller, studies Chinese. We all(both) love our majors, at the same time; we are fascinated with the other's field either. Consequently, we get together almost everyday during our leisure time and communicate our learning, such as how to solve a renowned equation, or how to write up a Chinese paper. We have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from this kind of discussion. We should, therefore, spend a big proportion of our free time with friends." a5 b( O; a& b" S" X7 e0 d

Admittedly, preferred option though staying with friends is, it possesses some drawbacks. One may argue that some people, to whom the one thing to do with friends is playing, in deed waste a great deal of time while hanging out with others. Nevertheless, I believe that these persons, without the sense of responsibility, will kill time at any time, including the time they are alone.

To sum up, after pondering, we can safely arrive at the conclusion that spending most of our time with friends is the more sensible choice. |
