Artists, the creator of art, transfer the privacy of one’s thought into works of art while critics evaluates them and transfer them back into plain words which all could understand. From when art was first born, both the artists and critics have been playing an important role in giving lasting value to society.

Artists are those who good at novels, films, music, paintings, and other works of art. They represent what they see and what they think, and as a consequence, make people thinking more about life. The influences brought by artists are long-lasting because people of different times are all benefit from them by a deep understanding. Wuthering Heights, the favorite book of mine, is still popular by critics even now because there are many people of our times still read it and have insight understanding about love, life, value, and human nature and so on. Sometimes, it’s not only a book but also a director who point out a true society to me.

How could we enjoy flowers in winter and snowflyings in summer without paintings? How could we enjoy the Fifth Symphonies if Beethoven could not write songs? The world will lose impulse without artists!

Critics also give society something of lasting value because they are guiders who show us their understanding of art works. For those who can’t catch the central meaning directly, the criticism may help them think more. Socrates, a great critic of all time, give the foundation of Western philosophy which we still research and learn. What’s more, as critics always have more basic knowledge than our outsiders, their insights are deeper and more impressed, and they reveal. With their analysis, we may learn much more than by self-teaching.

In sum, the artist influence the society by create art works that make people have deep understanding of life and critics enhance learning by giving analysis to the art works. Both of them give society something of lasting value.
