As is universally known, modernization is distinct from tradition in many aspects, from which many people asserts that tradition and modernization are incompatible and only one of which can be chosen. However, from my respect, tradition and modernization are not mutually exclusive and we should attach as much significance to tradition as to modernization.
Sometimes tradition is not advocated because some oh traditional things are out of date. Occasionally, even some elements of tradition can hinder the development of the society, such as ignorance which suppresses advanced opinions. And just like that the outdated technologies imprison human beings in the captivity of inefficiency; the decadent ideas imprison us in the captivity of negativity and ignorance. That is why we are having been in fight with the negative side of tradition, for instance, combating superstitious activities. Even though, the advantages of tradition cannot be offset. The importance of tradition should be put forward and many of them deserve to be carried forward. For example, Taijiquan, a kind of Chinese traditional shadowboxing, which is developed thousands of years ago, did not fade at all. Instead, more and more people are becoming interested in learning it because it helps people maintain both physical and mental health. So only the disadvantageous traditional things should be abandoned and the rest parts are supposed to be taken advantage of continuously.
In reference to modernization, it has two sides as well. On the one hand, the advanced technologies make us work and study more effectively. Meanwhile a more comprehensive understanding of nature and ourselves are easier approached to, which results in that we are developing a healthier lifestyle and the decayed customs are gradually eliminated. We are all involved in the process of modernization and enjoying its utility. However, we have to suffer from modernization at the same time. Not only does modernization change our life greatly, but it also altered how we think. More and more of us yield to money worship and their values are under degeneration. Since money is laid excessive emphasis on, people begin to overlook other valuable treasures such as love and friendship. Money is estranging people from each other. To sum up, most of, not all of, modernization is admired.
The illusion, that tradition is won over and is about to be replaced by modernization, is realistically misleading. Actually, tradition is not destroyed but instead promoted by modernization. Tradition is the foundation of modernization. Popular music originates from classical music and both of them are appealing a host of people nowadays. In some aspect, modernization cannot exceed tradition. In China, though the ways of celebrating the Spring festival are become more and more diverse, the theme of family love of the festival never changes or fades. In some aspect, tradition is merged in modernization. Many classical novels are brought come to life through being adapted into movies. So modernization does not always reject tradition and vice versa; they can be in harmony with each other.
In conclusion, since tradition and modernization have both merits and demerits and they are not mutually exclusive, we are supposed to take a balance between them. Furthermore, a better understanding of tradition equips us with abundant experience which is essential for us to meet the challenges of modernization.

argument 127
In this report, the vice president claims that electronic monitoring of employees' Internet use from their workstations are supposed to be implemented. To justify his assertion, he points out that the through supervising employees' Internet use on company computers; we can avoid time wasting and meanwhile foster a better work ethic, which definitely leads to improvement of our overall profits. However, after a careful scrutiny, we can sense that the conclusion is not as convincing as it seems at first glance.
First of all, the author fails to provide any evidence to substantialize the assumption that the productivity is weakened primarily due to the wasting of time. In this respect, whether the electronic monitoring is necessarily needed is still open to question. The description above is too vague to prove that there are realistically some employees who use computers on personal or recreational purposes during work time. Undoubtedly the budget will be increased if electronic monitoring is decided to be necessary, but if the employees of the company have fulfilled their obligations and the productivity has been maximized, the additional cost will be offset in no way. Before making a premature a suggestion, more information about contemporary productivity should be collected.
In the second place, the side effect of the facilities has been overlooked. Everyone wants his or her privacy to be protected. If the company do so, employees are more likely to get annoyed instead of devoting more time to work. Therefore, the motivation of the whole staff will be seriously impaired, which consequently will result in degeneration of the productivity. The declaration that electronic monitoring will improve our overall profits is of no solid ground at all.
Last but not least, the vice president does not take other approaches to improvement of productivity and profits into account. If there are some other factors which have negative impacts on the company, it appears more reasonable for him to focus on how to rule out these to make the operation of the company more effective rather than put excessive emphasis on the equipment.
In summary, the argument commits several fallacies which undermine the conclusion. To strengthen his assertion, more details about the employees' work should be presented. Moreover the staff's attitude to the company should be attached more significance before any decision is made. Furthermore, the vice president should conduct a more comprehensive research to find out some other way in which improvement of productivity and profits can be achieved.

这两句话不错,但是与前两句有重复之嫌,有点罗嗦,前面的简化吧That is why we are having been in fight with the negative side of tradition, for instance, combating superstitious activities.
