TOPIC: ISSUE69 - "Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development"
WORDS: 421
TIME: 0:45:00
DATE: 2009-7-15

Government, stands like a sever parent of the big society family, supervises almost everything in his scope in order to keep the wheels running constantly. Scientific research, is just like a mischievous child of the family, always bring about various surprises. As a result, I agree with the statement that proper restrictions from govenment to scientific research are demanded for the good of the whole society family.

Generally speaking, appropriate restrictions and supervisions on scientific research and development from govement is indispensable to some extent. Just think of one significant aspect, the societal stability and welfare strongly call for such restrictions. Scientific research, which is a pure acadamic area, just aims at the tremenduous accomplishment it obtains, inevitably rules out the consideration of the possible consequences it will bring about to the hamony and stability of the society.Hence, it is the obligation of government to analysis and supervise the relating benefits and hazard accompanied by the scientific research. For example, the study of clone human beings, scientists are crazy to step further in this gene area and almost cannot wait to build a world of clone creatures immediately to demonstrate their great achievement to the world. However, government officials instantaneously become aware of the devastating consequence of this reaearch, as it will throw the world into a complete chaos and numerous tragedies, so that strict restrictions are placed upon this research.

However, fulsome restrictions of government will lead to the opposite end. Since scientific research requires free mind, they need a free realm of themselves to creat anything at will. Too much restriction on them will surely hamper the development of it. Think about the situation that he scientists would have to ponder carefully the possible punishments he will get in advance before he starts any creation. A boundary is established so that too much worry hold majority of the thinking space impede their inspiration. It is just like a charming bird imured in a cage, whatever how beautiful her voice used to be, her vigor will undoubtably disappeare gradually. As the thought freedom to a scientist is what capacious sky to a bird.

It is the government’s regulation determine the speed of the scientific research, so that fuether influence the development of the society as well. Just think of the time that Rome in Medieval Europe, people are binded by suffocating rules, we can learn from historic books that the society of that time inched slowly. While in recent years, all governments of the world encourage the spirit of innovation, abundant of scientific accoplishements almost spring out in a blink of an eye. We are applying the facilities which are just observed in the sicentific fiction years ago.

In conclusion, we are living in this big family, some obligatory rules cannot be neglected, any scientfic research should cater the interests of the overall human beings but not violate the moral standard of human beings. Government should place appropriate restrictions on sciectfic research to guarantee the well-being of the whole society.

这段的论述不错

本文分别从正反方面论述了政府干预科学研究的必要性和危害性,论据充分,值得学习。
另外不好意思了,我自己本来也比较弱,所以找不出太多的问题……
