I agree with the speaker`s broad assertion that it is meaningful for world notions to corporate with each other in establishing an international university where the teachers and students work together for solving the world`s persistent social problems. However, such a global university still has its own limitations which shouldn`t be ignored by us.

I concede that the speaker is on the correct philosophical side of this issue. After all, a global university creates an environment for cultivating such an international spirit. And only we human are aware of the importance of this spirit, can we really solve some enduring social problems, especially environmental pollution. For example, many developed countries have moved a large portion of their polluting industries to developing countries. It is seems that these "smart measures" solve the environmental pollution of their countries. Nevertheless, these developed countries neglect the fact that environmental pollution is a problem with which is faced by the global , nor a single country at all; and it exactly because they don`t know what is international spirit.

However, the speaker seems don`t understand the real essence of being in campus. The speaker asserts that a global university should be designed to engage students in the process of solving the world`s most persistent social problems. Actually, the purpose of a global university should be far beyond this. For instance, Harvard University is a famous global university. Since established, it is engaged in cultivating qualified people of all aspect, such as eight American presidents, 34 nobelists, the founder of Microsoft and many other talented people of all aspects. So I think if a global university is to be any achievement it must put its effort into cultivating talented person of all aspect, nor just the ones to solve the world social problems. In fact , query whether a university who cultivates only talented people of one aspect can gain achievements, or whether it can be considered " a university" at all.

Maybe they can do something, but they can`t completely solve them , for the reasons that the problem stem from certain aspects of human nature--such as aggression and greed. Secondly, There are many potential danger in such a global university. Experience tells us the more mores exist in one area, the more conflicts will be created. One of my experience aptly illustrate it. when I was in high school, there were some the Hui nationality students in my class. once, they almost killed me because of my joke of putting pork into their lunch box. In fact, I know they do eat pork, but I don`t know they are so serious at this. So imagine a global university, it is more complex than my high school; Then , how many potential dangers will be there.


In sum, as for the speaker`s broader assertion , I agree with that all nations should help support the development of a global university--because it can promote students` mutual understanding and cooperation among the youth worldwide. Nevertheless, we must also notice that the real purpose of a university and the potential dangers of such a global university.
