"There is no such thing as purely objective observation. All observation is subjective; it is always guided by the observer's
expectations or desires." [69]
Does all observation is subjective? Admittedly, our observation are in some extent based on our subjective wills, however, objective side is also indispensable.
To begin with, our observation always contains subjective opinions. When we see a popular movie at cinema, some people may hold the opinion that the movie is not appealing while other people consider it is well worth the ticket. This phenomenon, however, reflects that subjective observation plays an important role in our judgment of the film. From objective side, it is actually a good movie, nevertheless, we judge it both by the movie's content and our own opinions to make a conclusion that whether or not this movie is actually a good one. Likewise, many people do not like those churl people albeit every people has his or her merits.
Subjectivity seems to be an important part of the observation, however, as every sword has two edges, if we do not use our subjectivity moderately it will cause a disaster.
In the other words, pure subjective observations may bring about severe consequences. Take Karl Kautsky, Germany and international labor movement theorist as an example, his opportunism, which based on subjectivism against Marxism, contains two themes, the right opportunism and the left opportunism. They both contain an idea that we should detach the subjectivity and objectivity, cognition and practice; nonetheless, the opportunism resulted in a huge loss to China's revolution. In the earlier stage of the Anti-Japanese war, a leader of China's Communist Party named Wang Ming committed the left-deviation adventurism, he overlooked people's strength and overrated the opponent's ability. He gave the hegemony of anti-Japanese to Chiang Kai-shek, however, this action severely cumbered the development of New Fourth Army and therefore brought a extremely hard period of time to our Communist Party. Similarly, a English man called Owen bought a small island in Indiana and take it for granted that he could build an ideal society where all the people there work together and share living things together and thus all the people there is equal. This pure subjective and no objective observation made him as poor as church. As for Owen, he should consider about every possibilities that is objective things like environment, possible results, people’s thoughts and so on instead of taking risks and just wondering.
Finally, as the dialectical materialism deems, subjectivity and objectivity is the unity of opposites, we should unite the subjective and objective observation together so that we can find the truism in the certain thing. For instance, Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin only by casual, find that the mildew which had accidentally fell into the staphylococcus produced a secretion to kill the staphylococcus. This objective observation interested A, with his own subjective thoughts, A finally created Penicillin which had saved thousands of people during the World War 2. Watt also makes a great contribution to the Second Industrial revolution by his stream machine, the theory of which was picked up by an objective observation as well.
In sum, the subjective observation and subjective observation should not be taken apart as they are a unity, no matter everything we observe or every decision we made we should take these two sides into consideration, only in this way can we find an ideal answer to the puzzle.
