TOPIC: ISSUE40 - "Scholars and researchers should not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution to the
larger society. It is more important that they pursue their individual interests, however unusual or idiosyncratic those
interests may seem."

What counts most when scholars and researchers facing to chose their items of research? This issue concludes that pursuing personal interests should be concerned most, upon the research' social value. However, for my part, this notion is narrow and prejudice.

Above all, interest is very important in academic area. It is motive power of studying, it is the best teacher of learning. Scholars and researchers can be absorbed in an area and create wonders only when they fascinated in their research directions. Even though their their research may seem unusual or idiosyncratic.

Albert Einstein, as the most famous physicist in 20th century, selected a uneven and lonely road in researching----relativity . His theory is so fresh and advanced that seem to be a big bomb dropped in the physical researching circle. He donate all his intelligence to this mysterious and attractive area and finally he proved himself right through the moving orbits of plants. His theory seems unusual and idiosyncratic when it was first proposed while it brings us a rush of truth finally.

Otherwise, the notion raised above does not equal to that scholars and researchers can pursue their interests without limitation or concern about its social value. Scientists, as the major force to help human beings to build a better society, it is their obligations to take their invents' social value into account. A invent which is useless or even harmful to our society, should not be paid too much time in or even be forbidden. We cannot forget the pains that many irresponsible inventions bring us. Such as the drugs or biologic weapons. They may have contributed to our society at a certain time in some extent, while the harm they produced is far more worthy of punish than the benefit they brought, and these bed effect keep on till today. consequently, it is indeed dangerous if scientists do not where their social duty lies and what their inventions may bring to the society.

In addition, we should separate the concern about the social value of research apart from the utilitarian thoughts meanwhile we should resist seriously the later. Since the concern on the social value of research is rather a heartfelt feel of responsibilities towards society while utilitarian thoughts considers the scholars personal interests most. The former can regulate the academic area to society and let science utilized by the process of social developing; albeit, the later may pollute the academic atmosphere and influence the scholars to seek after the axiom.

To sum up, researchers and scholars should make clear that where their obligations and interests lie in. To find a balance between these  two things is the key point to solve the problem this issue raised. That is, study their fascinated subjects as well as considering these items' social value.

TOPIC: ISSUE40 - "Scholars and researchers should not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution to the larger society. It is more important that they pursue their individual interests, however unusual or idiosyncratic those interests may seem."

What counts most(GOOD PHRASE!) when scholars and researchers facing to chose(choose) their items of research? This issue concludes that pursuing personal interests should be concerned most, upon the research' social value. However, for my part, this notion is narrow and prejudice(prejudicial).

Above all, interest is very important in academic area. It is motive power(GOOD) of studying, it is the best teacher of learning. Scholars and researchers can be absorbed in an area and create wonders only when they (are) fascinated in their research directions. Even though their their(去掉) research may seem unusual or idiosyncratic.

Albert Einstein, as(去掉) the most famous physicist in 20th century, selected a uneven and lonely road in researching----relativity . His theory is so fresh and advanced that seem(seems) to be a big bomb dropped in the physical researching circle(没看明白). He donate(donates, devotes最好) all his intelligence to this mysterious and attractive area and finally he proved himself right through the moving orbits of plants(planets). His theory seems unusual and idiosyncratic when it was first proposed while it brings us a rush of truth finally.

Otherwise, the notion raised above does not equal to that scholars and researchers can pursue their interests without limitation or concern about its social value. Scientists, as the major force to help human beings to build a better society, it is their obligations to take their invents'(inventions’) social value into account. A(An) invent which is useless or even harmful to our society, should not be paid too much time in or even be forbidden. We cannot forget the pains that many irresponsible inventions bring us. Such as the drugs or biologic weapons.(such as 不要独立成句) They may have contributed to our society at a certain time in some extent, while the harm they produced is far more worthy of punish than the benefit they brought, and these bed(bad?) effect keep on till today. consequently, it is indeed dangerous if scientists do not (少了些什么?) where their social duty lies and what their inventions may bring to the society.

In addition, we should separate the concern about the social value of research apart from the utilitarian thoughts meanwhile we should resist seriously the later. Since the concern on the social value of research is rather a heartfelt(好词) feel of responsibilities towards society while utilitarian thoughts considers(consider) the scholars personal interests most.
