Grounded on tow surveys on a group of people and to the public libraries, people in first survey display their relish on literary classics while the public libraries check out system shows a larger amount of mysteray novel lent out, the author comes to the conclusion that people in first survey had misrepresented their reading habits. Persvasive as it seems, the author virtually figures out some flaws once submitted to further examination.

First, the author merely states that the most frequently checked out books are mystery novels. However, the author doesn’t mention the actual sources of the libraries. One crucial factor is that the public libraries preserves much larger anount of mystery novels than than of literary classics. Thus lead to the phenomena of frequently checked out in these public libraries.
On the other hand, the span of survey to public libraries is ruled out by author either. It is possible that the time of conducting that survey is just the prevailing season of mystery novels which will not last long. As this phenomena may be owing to the popularity of Harry Potter or The Lord of Ring, etc. The author neglected to substantiate these two factors.

Moreover, the author stealthly narrow the scope of the literary classics. Accroding to the two surveys, the author offers results that the first group of people are fond of literary classics, while the survey of libraries shows that people prefered the mystery novel. However, common sense informs me that these two kinds of books are not totally disparate from each other. Many mystery novels are contained in the circle of literary classics. As a matter of fact, the author had rwrongly comprehend the conception of literary classics. Any masterpieces that created by laborious and painstaking efforts and appreciated from generation to generation can be defined as literary classics. For example, the Chinese classical mystery novel, A Journey To The West is also literary classics and ae well as the Odessey, ect..

Last but not the least, grounded on the two surveys, the arthor rashly comes to the conclusion that the respondents in the first study had misrepresented their reading habits. Without any statistical demonstration and authoritical evidence the author cannot persuasive us that the fisrt group of respondents lead to misrepresentaion.

In conclusion, the author hastily comes to the conclusion that comparing the two surveys, the first study’s respondents had misrepresented their reading habits. The author is flawed in several aspects as he/she neglected to provide the actual sample of the first group, narrowed the scope of literary classics and actual condition of the survey in public libraries, consequently is prone to bring about an unconvincing conclution.
