Is video camera a more important form of documentation than written records? In terms of accurate, video camera is better than written records, however, as for convincing, it may not be as useful as written records. We should combine video camera and written records together in order to document things more precisely and authentically.

To begin with, the video camera is better than written records in accuracy. For example, the video camera can record things like the supermarket stealing, traffic regulation violations as well as a way of recording our daily life like the wedding ceremony, family get-together and so on. The video camera can record the sounds, images, the fluent process as well as details about what the things are going. However, the written records cannot be as accurate as the camera video since it cannot fully record all the details, and if we want to know what the stealer looks like, the merely written word may not function well because many people have the same distinctions on their appearances so it will be hard to tell from them. Thus we can see the video camera more accurately than written records.

Nevertheless, in terms of convincing, written record will become a better way. Written records, which can reflect people's thoughts, ideas as well as their inner desires, can help us to clarify things better. A person who is appeared happy may have many painful experiences, without heart-to-heart communication we cannot find out them. For example, books are a way of heart-to-heart communication, the authors in different times may have different opinions, great Chinese writer and ideologist Lu Xun, his books reflect the miserable lives of people at that time as well as a way to express his conscious about people's ideology. When the feudal society is over and people are desperate for the liberation of minds. From the camera video, we may be able to feel no more about people's minds but only miserable lives while through the books that reflecting people's thoughts, we can see the inner thoughts of people and the efforts they are making to fight for the country's future. Some simple reactions that happened in the chemistry lab cannot be clarified without a deep look at into it. We can clarify a reaction by some principles and equations while the only images cannot convince us of it, if the camera videos can make sense of all the things in the nature then what our scientists try to figure out day and night for?

At last, the best way to document things is to combine camera videos and written records. For example, when we go to the cinema to see a historical movie, there will always contain an information in the film title to illustrate the movie's background, without these words we may do not know whether or not the movie is convincing since films which are filming at a different time may not be as real as the real things. With the title words, the director makes the movie more convincing. Some newspapers always contain some pictures about the theme to make it more accurate, say the exact location or to what extent people were injured of a terrible accident.

To sum up, the video cameras are more accurate while the written records are more convincing, thus it is a good choice to combine each other to become a better form of documentation.
