==============================
A hero is like acaptain, who steer the ship, and the public are the sailors, who are bending tothe oars. However, someone will argue that the study of history emphasizes toomuch on individuals instead of the public. In fact, study of history is abalance, whose pointer is in the center. Individuals are on one side, and thepublic are on the other.
It cannot bedenied that study of history focuses on the public, since the public are themakers of the history. For example, when it comes to the Great Wall, which isreferenced as a sign of the civilian of China, we will know it was built inQin Dynasty and used to defend the enemy in North of China. Through the GreatWall, we can refer the public life in Qin. People in Qin were in a curl societyinstitute under an extremely severe law system, so that people had to chooseeither building the Great Wall for their country or death. Meanwhile, thedevelopment of technology is reflected vividly. As limitations of the publiccommunication technology, people can only pass the information by the smokeinstead of the phone in present. Thus by the study of history on the public, apast scenario is presented in front of our eyes.
Of course, thehistory study also pays attentions on the individuals, so that we can watch a myriadof individuals' names in the annuals. Nelson Mandela, an anti-apartheidactivist, the first elected president by the democratic election, fought forthe equality of ethnic; Martin Luther King, leader of the African-Americancivil right moment, is habitually referenced as an icon of human right. Both ofthem are prominent individuals in our glorious history. No doubt, they are thephosphor which is predecessor of pursuing the coming morning. As we emphasisthe individuals, the records of these great individuals, like Nelson Mandela,Martin Luther King, can be known by our descendants.
At the lastanalysis, it is reasonable to say that study of history places the two sides onbalance. History is a jigsaw puzzle, which consists of debris. Albeit, lookseparately, each fragment is a different color module, it is important inconstructing of the jigsaw. It is like a connoisseur, who focuses not only onthe general scenario, but also on the subtle specifics. That is why when weread a event such as a movement, who are the leaders and who are the followscan both be found in the history.
The study ofhistory calls for balance between individuals and the groups of people. By thestudy of both sides, not only a general but also a subtle painting is in frontof us. |
