Agree or disagree with the following statement: it is more important to award students for effort (trying or hard working) than for achievement (good grades);
Teachers and parents are tending to award students for their achievements rather than their efforts, though many students feel unfair about this criterion. As far as I am concerned, I am supportive of the latter opinion that people should give more credits for hard working.
It is understood that achievements are the best awards in any case. Just consider what opportunities standing behind these achievements. In China, scores in the College Entry Examination is the only criterion for college admission. Students with an amazing score will have great chances to attend famous colleges. And Job opportunities only favor graduates with achievements in its research field. In this sense, awards sound like less useful when compared with the huge benefits brought about by the achievement itself. And if it is less useful, why should we judge awards according to it. Maybe awarding students for efforts is just optimal. At least our sympathy requires us to do so for those who work hard but achieve nothing.
Also, award students for achievements can cause potential problems. On the one hand, students getting too much awards are more likely to become self-conceited. Students at this stage are not willing to listen to their peers, sometimes even their teachers` opinions are not highly valued; and they are less likely to ask question though they only have little understanding about it; It seems that asking questions will only make them less excellent. It is no doubt that they will make little progress but get behind in the end. On the other hand, many assignments are group work at school. Awarding for achievements may give students chances for "free ride". Group member who has no contributions to the achievement but still get awards is unfair to other members and other groups. In the long run, they will learn nothing from school when they graduate and cause tense relationships between team members.
Sometimes awarding students for efforts will gain an amazing result. First, the chances for "free ride" are greatly reduced, because everyone`s effort in the group will be evaluated. Generally, people who make achievements are more likely to make an effort; that means we are not doing any damage to the rights of students who make an achievement by giving rewards for efforts. What`s else, it will spur students without achievements to keep on moving. People are of great chance to feel depressed when they achieve nothing after hard working; and they might be in great doubt of their abilities in seriously conditions. But when awards come because of hard working, they will probably rethink about themselves. Correct wrong study method; Try become efficient in time management. And ask for advices to change the status-quo. This power of changing comes from the awards, because people want to live up to expectations from others who award them and they want to prove people the award is a worthwhile. By doing this, poorly-graded students could eventually turn into good-graded students.
After considering the demerits of awarding students for achievement and merits of awarding students for effort, I think it is a great idea to carry out the latter method.

Also, award students for achievements can cause potential problems(感觉这个观点不够完整,最好说award students for achievements can cause potential problems,so we choose to ……把你支持的立场也讲出来). Awarding for achievements may give students chances for "free ride"(这个例子举得好,有说服力). Group member who has no contributions to the achievement but still get awards is unfair to other members and other groups.
