Research Assistant position open for PhD candidates in Structural Engineering

Civil & Environmental Engineering Department
An immediate opening for a new Ph.D. student who has competed their MS degree or who will be finished by the end of 2013.
Requirements:
1) Has interest in structural engineering, determined to pursue a Ph.D.
2) Must have M.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis. Applicants will complete by the end of 2013 can also apply.
3) Has interest in earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, or reliability
4) Must have GRE and Toefl score ready for application for admission
Potential Projects:
1) An NSF funded research project that will develop tall sustainable timber buildings that can remain damage free after severe earthquakes. Plan a full-scale shake table testing of a 10~12 story wood building.
2) An NSF funded research project that studies different source of uncertainty in building responses during earthquakes. Collaborate with Colorado State University to conduct shake table testing of scaled specimen to gather needed data for uncertainty modeling.
Compensation:
Tuition, student fees, health insurance and stipend are included.
