122"We owe almost all our knowledge not to people who have agreed, but to people who have disagreed."I disagree with the speaker on the claim that we own almost all our knowledge not to people who have agreed, but to people who have disagreed. In this assertion, the speaker means that those who share the same ideas or perspectives with us will offer not any help for the accumulation of our knowledge at all, which is very preposterous. Insofar as I can think, although different opinions may have a larger contribution to our learning, the role of those who agree us can never been simplified.
Understandably, people will learn more when their ideas and thoughts are challenged by all forms of opposed opinions. First and foremost, the controversies can help people find the underlying fallacies of our ideas or perspectives which people may often overlook. A math test can aptly illustrate this point. Every student has such experience: when they discuss the result of one of math questions, when some different resolutions are put forward by others, they may abruptly find they make a mistake while they originally regard their answer as the self-evident truth. Of course, this is only a small example. When it comes to the wide scientific and research field, the contradicted opinions are of equal importance. This is why our present-day scientific level unceasingly strides forward and the research outcomes emerge continuously. Secondly, contradicted perspectives can expand people’s thinking way and help them accumulate knowledge and experience. Usually, those who disagree us have their own perspectives and their explanations concerning some problems. Through learning these various ideas can we deepen our thoughts and broaden our ken, even if our solution has no obvious flaw. Lastly, those different points of view can give people a deep impression. If they were wrong, they may never forget the right answers put forward by others. Though provoking sometimes, opposed opinions imprint deeply learner’s mind and thus do contribute to their learning.
It should be admittedly that those who have the same viewpoints with us can also contribute to our knowledge accumulation. These same viewpoints can be defined as recognition, commendations or praise. Undoubtedly, recognition and commendation from teachers and parents play a pivot role in the students' learning process. Once they deserve such assessment, they will feel enthusiasm with their study; this interest will promote them to study strenuously to make a higher achievement. In the same token, when it comes scientific inquiry field this kind of praise is also paramount to motivate scientists and researcher to attain larger success. One can go no further to see this point by examining the role played by the Nobel Praise in the academia.
Then come to a question, what are the right attitudes people should possess when they confront all kinds of perspectives? Firstly, people should classify these perspectives into two categories: agree and disagree, then absorb respective merits within them. As for those agreed or praised viewpoints, we should make them as spiritual support to boost our courage and stimulate our motivation; as for those disagreed, people should learn their route of thoughts and the solutions through which they can broaden their horizon and enrich their knowledge.
In conclusion, although those opposed opinions may contribute much to our learning, under no circumstances should we regard the same or the similar points of view as futile in the process of acquiring knowledge. On balance, people should have a right attitude when facing up with all forms of feedbacks.
It should be admittedly(admitted?) that ,但是总体来说还是比较通顺的。 good
恩,不错
呵呵,我是新兵啊。看到能写出来的都很佩服了.这个确实不错,顶一下 The knowlege's progress has their own development discipline, that is proposal of idea, dispute, advance, to next circle of proposal of new idea. So some people assert that we owe almost all our knowledge not to the people who have agreed, but to people who have disagreed. In fact in my personal opinion, we not only should appreciate people who have disagreed, but also honor people who have agreed .First of all, Important advance in knowledge often were proposed by people who have disagreed the old theory. There is no doubt that the dissenter always play a crucial role in the process of knowledge's advance, They had courage and confidence to insist their own opinion, sometimes confronting the powerful social force and academic authorities. For instance, Copernicus, Polish great astronomer, disagreed the traditional geocentric theory which is surportted by academic pundit Aritotle and might religious force and proposed his own heliocentric theory. Through a century's struggle, The sun-center theory has been accepted by the public eventually and formed the classic theory of the modern astronomy.
The second, the surpporter of the knowledge made their own contribution to the knowledge's development. There are two reasons that we need to thank their contribution. First, the Breaking through of new knowledge cannot arrive without classic theory's surpport in relevant field. Take a retrospect of computer and internet's develope, without the classic electrical theory and digital theory, logical electrical theory, people even a prodigy can not devise a computer. The relativity's discovery can arrive without the classical mechanical theory discovered by Newton. Addtionnally, Even the old knowledge was not correct, but as a wrong model it stood as target to be scrutinized by the new theory's discoveror. The surpporter's propagation and widespread of the knowledge aroused people's interest and furtherly exploration.
To sum up, From the process of knowledge's development we can see a objective rule that Knowledge 's advance cannot be achieved without both surporters and dissentor of the knowledge.
