It is true that the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, in any realm of life- whether academic, social, business or political. However, the threshold and ending point of us are all from idealistic views. It is the reality that forces us to choose pragmatic behaviors to guarantee survival though it sometimes turns out to be a simpler and more immediate option. But we have not to act and think practical all the time and we should not forgo our idealistic views and behaviors completely.

To some extent, we have to choose the practical way and to be practical is a way to get close to make idealistic come true. That's because we have to face up to the reality, we have to encounter all tough competitions, shortage in resources and so on. As a student of mathematics, my ideal life is doing research all day long, but I have no choice but going outside to earn my own life since I have to make money to buy myself things to live on, born in a family which is not rich enough to support my idealistic dream. I have to concede that pragmatic behavior guarantees survival. Since survive is our first task after return the world, and it is the precondition of our idealistic views, so we have to face the reality and take the practical way.
However, practical ways always turn's to be more simpler and more immediate options. I have a friend who gathered a group of people to construct a wed set as the platform to transforming one of his original ideas and they have only a week’s time for the reason that there are competitors are doing that job at the same time. At the end he failed because his employees want to write original codes which took up so much time. It is a much more simper way to copy some existing program codes, which is practical. Nowadays, it is a common sense that to be practical is to survive, to idealistic will defeat itself.
However, to survive is not our ultimate aim, so we should stick to our idealistic views as long as we are permit to. You will find that our idealistic things are mostly beautiful since they originate from our imagination and yearning toward perfect. Though we have to deal with all practical problems, but we should not completely give up to reality. After we have the ability to survive, we should pay more attention to our and other people's beautiful realistic ideas. When we have the strength, we should help others to realize their dreams. It is well-known that there are kids who have to earn their lives and give up their dreams like becoming scientists or artists. Without other people's help their idealistic ideas will be encroached by the reality. To help to guarantee idealistic dreams is what so many people are doing practically as refer to so many programs just around us. We are persuaded to donate to people who are trapped by reality.
In summary, we have no choice but to be practical. Although pragmatic behaviors turn out to be simpler and more immediate options, we should stick to our original idealistic views and dreams. What's more when we have the ability we should help to protect other people's beautiful idealistic dreams.
