10月12日 20100522NA Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Working at home using computers or telephones is better than working in the office.
The global world of work has witnessed radical changes in recent years, among which telecommuting, which guarantee the possibility of working at home, stands out as the most remarkable brainchild of the brand new era. A growing number of people choose to complete their work at home and communicate with their colleagues by using computers or telephones. But I do not consider this method is much better than working in the office, for long-distance working has plenty of drawbacks.
First and the foremost, the major disadvantage centers on telecommuting blurs the line between people’s leisure time and their work. People, who work in the office, have fixed office hours, generally from 9am until 5pm. The rest time, except for some specific occasions when they have to work overtime, is leisure time. However, if people start to work at home, they may feel unable to separate their lives from their occupations. They may start to check their emails once get up, and stay busy until late night. Without the time spends in commuting to their work places, they may actually work longer hours than their colleagues serving in offices.
Furthermore, the quality of work may suffer, for the reduced face-to-face interaction with other employees or supervisors. An essential element in the successful operation of a company is effective contact between co-workers. This contact not simply indicates making a few telephone calls or sending a few emails. It involves face-to-face discussions, brainstorming, persuasion or even arguments where innovative ideas and strategic decisions are created. This kind of working atmosphere can never be created in home conditions no matter how sophisticated the technology is.
Finally, once people start working away from the office, inevitably an increased sense of working for a task or a product will take the place of the decreased sense of working for an institution. Therefore, employers may feel less loyal to their companies and more inclined to change jobs or work part-time as long as it can provide reasonable pay and a flexible work schedule. Working in the office, on the other hand, often gives people a sense of belonging, a feeling that they are part of a larger group.
Apart from the disadvantages already mentioned, there are also drawbacks including loneliness, isolation, and laziness and so on. Therefore, this modern and attractive mode of working actually cannot compete with working in the office.作者: albert199010 时间: 2011-10-12 23:28:38
10月13日 20100619NA Do youagree or disagree with the following statement? If you need to discussupsetting or controversial problems with others, Using e-mail/text messaging isbetter than using telephone/voice-messaging.
It is inevitable that sometimes we have to discuss upsetting or controversial problems with others. What needs to be seriously considered here is the way how we communicate with other people about these. Though direct talking has its advantages, I fundamentally approve of the attitude of using e-mail or messaging. The explanations are as follows.
First and theforemost, the main reason I prefer writing method centers on the time which enable me to well organize my words. Undoubtedly sufficient time provide us with chances to take account of all respects relating to our issues and modify the sentences, which will exhibit our best expressions. As an undergraduate, Iam often confused by new knowledge difficult to understand. And when talking to my professors, I always forget to ask some essential questions or fail to refer to academic researches. At the same time of writing email, I can readily access to valuable information with the internet available. Also professors may need some references in order to jump to safe conclusions. It will let me receive better replies.
Furthermore, we can avoid others’ negative behaviors when they face controversial issues. Direct voice communication makes them feel nervous, embarrassed, and angry or even want to have quarrels. We may easily get moody and even lose our temper. Let’s bring our discussion to a more practical context. Few weeks ago, after my consideration, I decided to give up my plan to do an ongoing research. But the problem was that I was afraid of telling my professor about the disappointing news, though he would forgive gradually. His facial expression would dramatically raise my guilty. At last I chose to send messages and we had a discussionafter we both calmed down. Now I can devote myself to other projects with greater significance.
Finally, writing email and textmessage can lighten our burden if we incline to collect numerous answers about some same topics. Clearly the prerequisite of gathering is the guarantee that everybody involved has read questions and basically understood them. An excellent function of email and message is that they can send a same one to a lot of people at same time, but all we should do is just making up sole one. The telephone does not own the fantastic function. It only can satisfy the require for one call per time. It is the more efficient and convenient way to correspond that leads sending email to be prevailing.
To sum up, with all things discussing above, we do recommend people sending emails or messages when they need to askothers’ opinions about controversial issues.作者: qqldd 时间: 2011-10-13 22:54:00

10月14日 20090403NA Do you agree or
disagree with the following statement? The best way to improve the quality of
education is to increase teacher’s salaries.(words:364)
When comes to the problem how to improve the quality of education, opinions vary from person to person. Though a large number of people consider that the prerequisite of owning more advanced education is increasing teachers’ salaries, I do not approve of the point that it is the best way.
Admittedly, rising teacher’s salary will be beneficial to education of the period to some degree. First, it will focus their attentions to teaching. According to a recently released research, around seventy percentage of teachers have their alternative jobs to earn additional money, such as making business, dedicating themselves to stock market, and doing some edit work and so on. Inevitably they have less time to concern the students. If the salary is sufficient to lead a wonderful life, they will be less inclined to make themselves so busy. Furthermore, high salary will attract more intelligent people to apply for the job, which can undoubtedly let student be more readily access to excellent information. For example, more superior teachers equips themselves with more knowledge, including how to expressing words in a more understanding approach which students can comprehend perplex questions very soon.
However, in my perspective, the best way to change the situation of education is the way which can diminish the most detrimental drawbacks of education, but actually teachers’ low salaries cannot compete with the negative attitudes of thousands of parents towards schooling, not to mention the lack of the spirit of science. (这个长句是不是应该简化一些)Let’s bring our discussion here to a more practical context. It is known to all that Chinese students exhibit poor performance in organizing experiments and innovation. The main reason centers on the education system which gives students a sole goal in their study: to be the top in the score rank of their classes. And without outstanding results in exams, they may fail to be admitted by universities and colleges. This problem has lasted for nearly a century, which requires for being settled down.
To sum up, expending teachers’ salaries is a recommended way to improve education, but not the best way. We still have to search for solutions which will radically lead the quality of education to an unparalleled level.
(个人建议:文章的遣词造句都挺好的,但是我觉得第二部分应该简化些,第三部分再充实一下会更好。自己的一点拙见)作者: 薰叶初 时间: 2011-10-15 00:27:44
