感觉这个教授的意思是说，第一年不好拿钱，至少是他不会给钱。
估计楼主的背景还是不错的，教授觉得录取没问题，但是他可能没有funding，所以楼主要么在系里要钱，要么就自费，一年过后找教授要RA。
