People always have to face different kinds of choice in their lives, and the speaker indicates that the absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare. I fundamentally agree with this point, however, in some special situations, some people who have their own faith and ideal would face a circumstance of no choice indeed.

Nowadays, every nation pays more and more attention on democracy. The democratic society admires freedom choice in every aspect, which provides people adequate choices. On the one hand, at the personal level, in the daily life, people could choose what to eat, what to dress as their favors. In schools, students have a lot of choices of courses and majors. In the society, people have a large amount of jobs to choose, and people also could decide to stay in the company or to leave. On the other hand, at the national level, people also have the right of choosing. When voting in a new leader, citizens decide which candidate could be elected. In democratic country, people even can choose what policy should actualize.

When people assert that they have no choice, the real meaning of this sentence is that they have several inappropriate choices, but this one is just not as bad as others, so they have to choose this one. This situation is very usual in our lives, and it is easy to explain. For instance, my teacher fell down a mount when he was climbing two years ago. When I and his wife sent him to the hospital, the doctor said the shock of falling damaged his spleen severely, he had no choice but to extirpate his bleeding spleen or he would die. Between losing a spleen and death, the doctor choose the first one to save my teacher's life. Although a spleen is important to a normal person, comparing with death, it is correct to choose extirpating it. Hence, the doctor did not face the absent of choice, but had to choose a relative better one.

However, people would face the real circumstance of no choice, because they have strong faith and belief which can not be given up or disobeyed. Many scientists and solider are the best examples. Copernicus, the famous scientists in Renaissance, created heliocentricism. When lords forced him to deny heliocentricism and to support geocentricism, or they would execute him, to persist in truth, Copernicus had no choice but sacrificed his life. Moreover, during the World War II, many allied spies were arrested by Nazi. In this emergency, they chose suicide to protect allied military secrets, and to prove their loyalty and faith to their nations. In their view, the faith and belief are inviolable. It is impossible for them to leak the important information to enemies. Therefore, in that situation they have no choice but choose death.

In conclusion, making a apposite choice is a tough task. People usually need not face the absence of choice. To choose a better choice or to insist on belief to choose a worse one, people should consider carefully.
