------------------------------------------
What's the relationship between tradition and modernization, are they incompatible? The author agree that they cannot exist at the same time and one must choose between them. However, in my view, both the tradition and modernization function in the society.---
To begin with, it's true that tradition is something that always functions in our mental development. There're numerous races in the world and each of them has their own characteristic and custom, which come down year by year. These customs and characteristics of each race help develop their unique ways of thinking and doing things, on both mentally and physically. For instance, there're several races of which people never eat pork, since they treat pigs as jinni. Instead, they eat beef and mutton. Thus, if we are not familiar with their tradition and treat them with pork dishes, it leads to very serious result, just like the christian offenses the Christ. Hence, tradition has its special function when help with our mental development.
Undeniable, tradition is very important. However, we're living in the 21st century, how can a man always live by following a past ways of life. In the modern society, the world is changing at an unimaginable speed, in which sometimes the tradition does not always work. In some circumstance, we should follow the latest thoughts and facts in order to follow the pace of the developing society. For example, there're some races in China which has such a custom: after the olds died, the younger ones must stay at home to memorize and protect the olds' for as long as months. I am not complaining that it's wrong, however, nowadays it's not possible for someone to stop everything of his life just to stay at home. Younger people have the responsibility to memorize the olds, but they are able to keep it in mind instead of staying at home and doing nothing at all except memorizing. Thus, sometimes people need to make some small changes in tradition in order to keep in pace with the modern society.
Moreover, adding credibility to my position is the fact that tradition also develops as time goes by. On one hand, the world is changing every day while the traditions should make some adjustment to adapt to the modern society. For example, bonze is a crowd of people which we are not familiar with. In past views, they are always staying in the temples and pattering all days. However, it's a little bit surprising that they are stepping out of the temples to learn some new technologies and conceptions gradually, even to surf the internet to get information. On the other hand, modernization is also based on the traditions. We see the cities are developing very quickly and skyscrapers are built everywhere, however, we can still see those buildings with traditional styles. They represent both the modernization and the tradition of the city.
All in all, from what has been discussed above, we can easily draw our conclusion that modernization is one of the themes of the modern world; however, traditions also plays a very important role in helping people memorizing our past days and keep our traditional customs. Thus in final analysis, only when we making a right combination of tradition and modernization can we live a better live in the modern society.
