Do individuals’ appearances reflect their attitudes and preference and the entire society's ideas and value system? Though I concede that the appearance of people serves as indicator for recognizing their attitudes and interests, in some other cases, in my observation, cannot simply be used to evaluate people, yet we can realize the value system in the society by observing its citizens.

The way people look, dress and behave, in large scale, manifests their preference. For supporting examples, one needs look no further than those who always wear T-shirts and shoes for basketball. Most of these people, if not all, tend to passionate and enthusiastic to life, and are rather avid for sports, especially for basketball. They may appear to active and open-minded due to their optimistic attitude to life. Otherwise, individuals who wear thick glasses are probably craving for reading, and rather appreciate pondering and contemplation. Accordingly, from what people appear to public, to large extent, we can imagine that what they are fascinated in or what they value most.

However, we cannot judge one only by their appearance as their likeness hinges on quite a few factors. For instance, we cannot tell the characteristic of those who wear the uniform. Sometimes, hardly can people determine what they should put on owing to the necessity of work. Those doctors and nurses wear white outfit day and night, which definitely cannot show their own personal character and their distinctive preference. Hence, through observing the clothes they wear, we can draw merely conclusion to their attitudes and interests. On the other hand, some individuals may intentionally mask their really attitude by pretending their eyelook or behaviors, in order to obtain what they demand. A thief in the bus may wear in perfect clothes, and behave in genteel and respectful way. So brilliantly the one acts that no one can discern his real face. Therefore, people cannot simply tell the reality only by observing the appearance of individuals.

Yet, we can tell much about a society's outlook and values by recognizing the appearance and behavior of its people. Living and working in the certain society, individuals are born to be influenced by the entire cultural and traditional circumstance, no matter how he/she is greatly individualized. Consider, some minorities, for example. Some always regard their hair as their precious gift by the god, and thus will not cut it off throughout their life. Some may go to rally for worship, which reflecting their religious their own distinctive culture. Even in the modern society, some countries may value the freedom of human beings, and therefore allow for freedom of speech, whereas others may relatively strict in such aspects in their laws. Consequently, it is undeniable that we can be hinted a lot from the appearance of individuals in society.

In conclusion, though we can tell a lot from what people look and behave, we are supposed to be careful to discern those scheming one. Besides, we are informed by the society via observing the appearance and behaviors of people in it.
