ARGUMENT14 - The following appeared in a memo from the owner of Green Thumb Gardening Center, a small business serving a suburban town.

The authorconcluded that Green Thumb Gardening Center will gain moreprofits by means of expanding the kinds of vegetable seeds they stock forgardeners this coming spring. In order to support the commendation, the author citesthe result of a survey which is conducted in last month nationally.Furthermore, he indicates the local gardening magazine Great Gardenshas sold out at the Village News stand three months in a row. Only by these insufficientevidence provided by the author, the author can not draw a conclusion above.

The primary problem with this argument is that a national survey whichindicates that many consumers were not satisfied with the quality of freshvegetables available in supermarkets applies equally to gardeners living in thesuburban town. Yet this might not be the case, for a variety of possiblereasons. Perhaps the respondents are stricter with the quality of freshvegetables than the gardeners in the suburban town. Or perhaps the quality offresh vegetables in the area where the survey is conducted is inferior to thesuburban town. In short, without accounting for such possible differencesbetween the background of this national survey and of the suburban town, the arguercan not provide that the gardeners in the suburban town are not satisfied withquality of fresh vegetables.

Admittedly theresult is adaptable to the suburban town, but the fact that the consumers arediscontented with fresh vegetables does not suffice to prove that the consumersin the suburban town are ready to grow vegetables by themselves. Growingvegetables, in itself, might cost plenty of time and vigor. Although thequality of fresh vegetables might not satisfy the gardeners, the gardenersmight still buy vegetables rather than grow them. So, the author has not providesufficient evidence to support the gardeners who were discontented with thefresh vegetables would like to grow vegetables by themselves.

Another problem that weakens the logic of this argument is that the author cites thelocal gardening magazine Great Gardens is out of stock to support thatgardeners are interested in grow vegetables. Firstly, this magazine may havenothing concerned with growing vegetables, so the reason why persons buy thismagazine is not because of their willingness to grow vegetables. Secondly, theauthor fails to provide us the circulation of the magazine. Maybe the circulationof this magazine is so small that the fact that the magazine has sold out atthe Village News stand three months in row does not ensure representativeness.

The last problem involved in this argument is that the prediction that the profitwill increase is unwarranted. Even assuming that the gardeners in the suburbantown are interested in grow vegetables and would like to buy seeds, however, the profit is factor relating to not only revenue, but also cost. It isentirely possible that the cost of greatly expanding the variety of vegetableseeds will offset, even outweigh the revenue.

In conclusion, the author fails to provide sufficient evidence to support theconclusion. In order to draw a convincing commendation, the author should indagatethe preference of the local gardeners, and evidence that what kinds of seedsattract customers should be provided.

The author concluded that Green Thumb Gardening Center will gain more profits by means of expanding the kinds of vegetable seeds they stock for gardeners this coming spring. In order to support the commendation, the author cites the result of a survey which is conducted in last month nationally. Furthermore, he indicates the local gardening magazine Great Gardens has sold out at the Village News stand three months in a row. Only by these insufficient evidence provided by the author, the author can not draw a conclusion above.

The primary problem with this argument is that a national survey which indicates that many consumers were not satisfied with the quality of fresh vegetables available in supermarkets
applies equally to gardeners living in the suburban town. Yet this might not be the case, for a variety of possible reasons. Perhaps the respondents are stricter with the quality of fresh vegetables than the gardeners in the suburban town. Or perhaps the quality of fresh vegetables in the area where the survey is conducted is inferior to the suburban town. In short, without accounting for such possible differences between the background of this national survey and of the suburban town, the arguer can not provide that the gardeners in the suburban town are(were?) not satisfied with quality of fresh vegetables.
我觉得既然是primary problem那应该论证的更充分些。因为论据只有两个points 好像少了些。

Admittedly the result is adaptable to the suburban town, but the fact that the consumers are discontented with fresh vegetables does not suffice to prove that the consumers in the suburban town are ready to grow vegetables by themselves. Growing vegetables, in itself, might cost plenty of time and vigor. Although the quality of fresh vegetables might not satisfy the gardeners, the gardeners might still buy vegetables rather than grow them. So, the author has not provide sufficient evidence to support the gardeners who were discontented with the fresh vegetables would like to grow vegetables by themselves.

Another problem that weakens the logic of this argument is that the author cites the local gardening magazine Great Gardens is out of stock to support that gardeners are interested in grow vegetables. Firstly, this magazine may have nothing concerned with growing vegetables, so the reason why persons buy this magazine
is(
换成may可能更好些) not because of their willingness to grow vegetables. Secondly, the author fails to provide us the circulation of the magazine. Maybe the circulation of this magazine is so small that the fact that the magazine has sold out at the Village News stand three months in row does not ensure representativeness.

The last problem involved in this argument is that the prediction that the profit will increase is
unwarranted
. Even assuming that the gardeners in the suburban town are interested in grow vegetables and would like to buy seeds, however, the profit is factor relating to not only revenue, but also cost. It is entirely possible that the cost of greatly expanding the variety of vegetable seeds will offset, even outweigh the revenue.

In conclusion, the author fails to provide sufficient evidence to support the conclusion. In order to draw a convincing commendation, the author should
indagate the preference of the local gardeners, and evidence that what kinds of seeds attract customers should be provided.

这个是我分析的你的argument
四段分别是写:
主要问题survey不能适用于村镇的gardeners
à 不能得出conclusion

就算survey正确也不能说明人们要自己种蔬菜
杂志同样不能说明人们要自己种蔬菜
Profitincrease 是没根据的

我觉得conclusionThus, we at Green Thumb Gardening Center can increase our profits by greatly expanding the variety of vegetable seeds we stock for gardeners this coming spring.
There is evidence that consumers are becoming more and more interested in growing their own vegetables
