But seriously, an oversimplified disclaimer "part of the reason" does not justify a flawed argument.

The fact that you cannot land a job outside the university with a philosophy or some bull liberal arts degree is seriously not a reason why university degree is growing useless.  

The economy is shitty and even my grandma has a bechalor degree. Universities are expanding and any living creature can graduate with a degree.

The issue lies in the fact that the same engineer degree does not worth as much as it was 20 years ago. The fact that the nature of a liberal art degree has not changed and you can still land a job in a telephone company with the same liberal art degree  is sufficient to say that the devaluation of univeristy degrees is not a result of those useless courses they offer.

You can go a law school to become a lawyer and still find your job prospects blue.

我没有这么说。

全层主说 degree之所以不值钱,是因为就业志向不明显。这是对degree一种非常狭义的理解。

degree有很多种。有些就像我提到的liberal arts，就是不好就业的一种。他是因为这个专业本身特征所有不好就业，20年前是这样，现在也是这样。他并不是大学专业不值钱的原因。

现在degree贬值，是因为上大学的人多了。竞争也多了。

而且有些degree，比如law，正因为他没有specific path， 他才好就业，因为你的选择很广。只不过现在毕业生太多，市场饱和，所有大公司实习不好找。如果是diploma，你只能做一种工作，如果这种工作市场不好，你就找不到工作。

而且经济也不好，不像70，80只要会喘气就有工作了。

我只是说原层主的理论师出无名。至于lz在哪儿读书好，要看各种因素了。

你以为读了professional school， degree也不拿还能找到相关的工作？ 你bar都没的考。

我就劝你一句

我也就活跃了这个论坛这么几天，就发现这里并不是一个平等的平台。

学会自己思考

你想好你要做什么，你想走多远，爬多高，是不是一日三餐就够了，还是你希望能走得更远一些。

不要相信所有学校告诉你的事情，学校是一门生意，为了招揽生意，他们什么都做得出来，去看看新闻，每年因为这种纠纷告学校的也有的。就连law school也一样，再好听的名字也掩饰不了他们是生意人的本质。

尽量读自己喜欢的。多做些课外活动，多认识人，交人脉，书里其实没有黄金屋。

如果真去了college，diploma觉得不够，还可以再进修degree。

中国也好加拿大也好，有时候文凭就是一条死标准。 过不去那个坎儿，就到达不了想去的地方。

我本来只是想提醒你，小心不要又落入了学校招生的陷阱。 确没想到看到了各种嘴脸。

顺便提一嘴关于 经济的

如果你去读graduate program

你的就业面会更广一些。 gov't， bank， financial institutions， 基本每年都在招人，包括本科经济生和研究生。一般研究生竞争力更强一些。

这些如果你去读，都是可以去学校的career service问得。

gov‘t 包括一些bank， 他们的招聘信息网上有时也会发布，你可以去自己对号入座。

当然了，文凭的硬门槛貌似diploma是迈不过去的。
