Some people think universities should require student to take classes in many subjects. Others think universities should require students to specialize in one subject. If one choice must be chosen, I prefer student to specialize in one subject.

First, university is a place for student to further their education and knowledge. Because of the technology advance, no one can handle each and every aspect of the subject. Hundreds years ago, There are lots of brilliant people who can be mathematician, socialist, artist and physicist at the same time. Now we can only find people who specialize in less area. It is not because people are not as smart as before. It is because that each subject is more complicate and deeper than before. If one wants to be expert, he must dedicate all his time and effort in one area instead of many areas.

Second, by only requiring students to specialize in one subject, students actually have more choices to specialize in more areas. For example, some university may require student to specialize in mathematics and art. However this university is only good at mathematics. By only requiring student specialize in mathematics, student have more choices. They have the choice to apply for another school that is good at art, and study at the both school at the same time. This way, students get the best education they want.

In conclusion, university should require student to specialize in one subject. By doing that, Student get a chance to be an expert at this one area and if student want to be good at multiple area, he have more choice to do that.

It is true that some universitiye require student to take classes in many subjects and other universities require students to specialize in one subject. In my opinion both of this aproaches have advantages and disadvantages. In the present essay I will argue in favor of requirement student to take classes in many subjects.

It is great for one to know what exactly want to do in his life. If one can answer the question "What vocation is appropriate for me" than he can attend university that require students to specialize in one subject. This is the right way to improve knowledge and to make the most of courses.

But unfortunately there are a few people knowing well what exactly they are born to do. I am one of them. That is why I think taking classes in many subject would help student to make his mind in order to realize his vocational opportunities. Moreover, taking classes in many subjects helps one to increase his knowledge and to achieve new levels of it.

Of course it is a free choice to attend many classes or to specialize in one subject. But I rather attend university that requires students to take classes in many subjects. Because I am still incapable of making my mind which particular subject to choose, and because it is really important for one to know a lot of things, not only in the realm of his interests, but out of their borders.

Some universities require students to study different subjects, while some other do not. There should be some reasons behind these 2 practices. I am graduated from a university of the former type, and I tend to support the former practice than the latter due to my experience.

University is a place for knowledge. Sometimes, knowledge cannot not be easily classified into a single category. Take Statistics as an example. It reguires both logical thinking technique and good mathematics foundation for making the study more efficient.

In addition, a university is a place for building up personal connection, which is an important factor of success with it comes to the business world. Most of the business deals are concluded because people often help with each other when they recognize that they are from the same group, such as, races, schools or hometowns

However. Some people may think that if some time are spent on some other subjects that are not related to the purpose of their studies in the university, they are wasting their time. This kind of saying is not correct because with the assistance of other knowledge, a student will become more knowledgeble and actually will bring them more strength in an overall sense.

Last but not the least, with the learning of other subject, a student may be able to realize his/her real strength and interest. I have an old classmate who was from the faculty of medicine. During his first year of his study in the university, he had taken a course in Operational Management. He scored very high in that course and he enjoyed doing projects with the classmates who’s major is Business Administration. In his second year, he decided to transfer to the Business faculty. Today he set up his own company that sells medical equipment. I consider this to be a very successful example of the practice that I am supporting.

To conclude, I am in favor the practice that universities should require their students to study varies subjects. This not only allows student to recognize their strength and interest, but also provides a good environment for the cultivation of successful persons.

We live on a world where frontiers between countries is less mark than years ago. It is that because the countries interact in political, social, and economic aspects. It does necessary a common language, so many times we have to learn a foreign language. I think that if children study a second language as soon as they start school, they can learn easier and better that language.

First of all, it is well-known that the edge is an important factor to learn a foreign language. To learn a new language implicates memorize a lot of words. I think people assimilate this kind of knowledge well when they are younger. For example, I am studying English and see the differences between my younger classmates and me. They really do not have problems to speak and to understand many skills in grammar, listening, and reading. However, it is not my case, I began studying English at the same time that I started university, and I have a lot of problems to pronounce well.

Second, to learn a foreing language younger gives the opportunity to learn the language as well as the native language. When people learn a second language, usually they translate to their natural language. It does more difficult to learn the language. However, when somebody in his or her first years of studies learns a foreign language at the same time that his or her language, they do not translate, they only "draw" in their mind the meaning of the words. For instance, when I read in English, I almost always realize that I translate each word in Spanish, my native language. I am sure that it is not the best way to understand a written well.

In conclusion, I think that learn a second language involves many things such as motivation, teachers, programs, time, etc. It also depends of each one, but I feel that the edge is very important to learn a language well. So, I agree about studying a foreign language when children start school.

Normally a foreign language such as English is very important because it is an international language, different people from different countries in this world can use English for communication. Therefore, I totally agree with the following statement “Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school” because I think children at the age of starting school can learn and develop their skill faster than children at other ages.

First of all, children at the age of starting school can learn many new things. They can absorb much new knowledge. Second, I think the younger they are, the easier they can learn how to pronounce like a native speaker. And for me pronunciation is an important key for using foreign language because it is depend on pronunciation whether one can communicate with a native speaker or not.

In addition, I would like to use my case as an example. I began learning English since the first day that I went to school. I think I do it quite well. I can communicate with any English speaker. But now I am 22 years old and I live in France for working as a software engineer. So I had started to learn new foreign language again. And I found it was very difficult for me. More than that, the most difficult part for me is pronunciation. I have been living here for almost 1 year, but I cannot make someone at the supermarket understands me what I really want to buy. And I am sure that the problem is pronunciation not grammar or vocabulary, which I believe that if I had learnt French since I was young, I could do it better than now.

In conclusion, if we can arrange some suitable courses for children to learn a foreign language as soon as they start school, there will be more advantages for their learning and their development. I believe that they can learn successfully and use that foreign language as well as a native speaker does, which is the most important goal of learning a foreign language.

Language is the best mean of communication. In globalization era, one language is definitely not enough for one to be able to communicate well with foreigner. I strongly support the idea that children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school. They will get themselves familiar with new language, improve hearing ability as the time goes by, and learn to speak new word early.

In my country, Thailand, it is compulsory for all children to start learning English at the age of three or four. However, they learn only a few word like one, two, three and simple animal names. It is more fun to know other languages especially when children begin to learn with very easy vocabulary. The learning process is more fun for them. Most language books for kids are colorful and fun to read. It gets children familiar with new languages without feeling afraid or bore to learn.

No doubt, early start means more time for practise. Children can improve their hearing ability from foreign movie, songs, or from tourists. They might not be able to understand the whole conversation but they will hear the word they have learned and know how to pronounce them correctly. I have read the book about bringing up a child where parents speak two languages; there is no problem for a child to learn two languages at the same time. Psychologist said a child will not get confuse but he will be able to speak two languages which will surely be one asset for the future.

In addition, children would start to say a word or sentence early and do not worry so much about mistake as most adults do. You cannot refuse the fact that adults always concern more about grammar and pronunciation of the new languages. This is one of the big barriers for learning. Adults are afraid and not say at all afterward. Language is a matter of practicing not avoiding. Children will start to say what they learn regardless of rule or grammatical part. And that is the best way to learn language.

To me, children can receive new things fast and their development is always progressing. Time and practise will make them master in new language, which will benefit them when they grow up. All in all, language is an art, which one should learn as early as possible. If one wants to see outcome soon, one must start sooner.

Some cultures believe that men and women have to study separatedly. I do not agree with this belief. In my point of view, male and female should share the same education environment.

Learning to respect each other is one of the contributing factor to have schools to both boys and girls. When children interact with other children of opposite sex, they learn that men and women are equal. For instance, a school football game with mix teams where boy and girls play together show them that no matter what the gender is, the same rules apply for all of them. As a result, they understand that men and women have the same rights and opportunities.

Another reason is that living an open world without paradigmas about differences between men and women avoids to have rebel generations of children or teenagers. If parents not allow their children to have friends from the opposite sex, and obly them to attend separate schools, they start to feel curiosity about unknown and prohibited things being more likely to make mistakes in their relationships such as getting pregnancy in early ages.

Finally, sharing the same schools prepared boys and girls to live in society. There are only one world where men and women live together. Consequently, if a children learn how to behave amongs other children without caring about genders, he will be ready to deal with the real world where both girls and boys build families and societies.

To sum up, attending the same schools, boys and girls have benefits because they learn to respect each other, avoid prejudgments about differences between genders, and get better preparation to face the real world where there are not limits to interactions between men and women.

There have been many private schools for only boys or girls recently in the world.  Many people believe that boys and girls should attend separate schools. Being to a co-high school, I strongly disagree with this statement for the following reasons.
  
First of all, I would like to point out that in none of places in the world, does only one sex exist. Both male and female live together, helping each other. Schools are not the only places to study subjects, but we also learn social rules, such as how to coupe with the other sex.

Secondly, living in the 21 century, male and female should have be treated in the same way. It is not the world where girls go to finishing schools to learn how to be good gladiesh and boys learn how to fight for their countries even though there are some exceptions in some countries due to cultural, religious, or traditional reasons. We should have the same education. To do that boys and girls should attend the same schools.

    However on the other hand, we should have separate classes for certain subjects, such as PE, where the strength of male and female is totally different. In order to improve the PE skills, for example, we should practice with students, who have the same ability, therefore boys and girls separately.  

    In conclusion, I strongly believe that boys and girls should attend the same schools. If there are certain subjects that they should have separate classes, then only these subjects should be separated. We do not have to go to separate schools.

Whether boys and girls should attend separate schools or not is a complex and controversial issue. Some people think attending separate schools is benefit for boys and girls to put their heart into studies. On the other hand, other people argue that boys and girls would be benefit from not only studies but also social skills if they are put together in the same schools. In the final analysis, I prefer the latter one to the former one.  In the following discussion, I would like to have evidence to support my view.

First of all, the disadvantage of attending separate schools is that the mutual sex will be suffering in the future because of lacking the knowledge about the opposite sex. One of my friends, for example, who was in separate high schools, lost the regular psychological mind after breaking up with her first boy friend. Because she didn’t know boys very well, she hoped they could get along well as the relationship between she and her girlfriends. However, her boyfriend didn’t do as what her girlfriends did such as going shopping for a whole day. She was disappointed by him and had an extremely terrible fight with him. They broke up in the end. She was hurt so deeply that couldn’t control her behavior any more.

Second of the place, the advantage of attending mixture schools is that boys and girls can help each other more efficient than those in separate schools. Because of different physical minds, they have different ways to think about questions. When they communicate together, they exactly can get some new ideas from others. I still remember after discussing with my partner who was a smart guy, I learned to consider the same thing with different ways. In this case, I really benefit from those experiences to work out every possibility in my work.

However, it may be true that in the mixed schools students will be affected by falling love so early. But the thing is when girls from separate schools meet strangers they are much easier be attracted by opposite sex than those from mixed schools. So this alone can’t constitute sufficient support to the view that boys and girls should attend separate schools.

Given the reasons discussed above, the conclusion, which may intertwine at the beginning of discussion and thus become more persuasive, may be safely reached that it’s not necessary for boys and girls to attend separate schools.

Human beings are social animal. They need society to live. Living in society means living in peace and harmony, cooperating and learning from each other. So it is very important to be able to work with a group of people. As it is well said that ‘if you are good to others then you are best to yourself’, so accordingly if a person can cope in a group and work, that means he is also capable of working independently.

It is very important to be socialized. All the organizations and even homes will have a good environment if all members can cooperate. Working in a group means gaining leadership spirit, knowing each other, respect for each other, perfection, sharing ideas and knowledge, time consuming, easy decision making and over all accurate result. In fact, working in a group means the sustainable development of the organization as well as the individual.  If the person works independently for his own personal matter, it the different thing. But even then knowing how to response and how to tackle the situation in the personal life can also be improved by learning form others’ real life experience. For this sharing of information, experience and knowledge is very important. And all these activities directly link with group activities. To be able to work in a group means more than working individually. The one who can work in a group well means he is a friendly, responsible, punctual, listen to other members, respected by members and cooperative. These are very important virtues that each individual should have. Working individually may provide self-satisfaction and make the person independent. But as  ‘ being respected is more important being liked’, the person shall not have the respected and social life.  If a person can work in a group, he can adopt and work in every type of environment. Even he will develop a capacity to adjust himself in every prevailing condition that he may come across.  Actually we find people not as they are, but as we are, but while working in a group we get to know about each other, the values, the cultural diversity and over all life style. Thus, the capacity to work in a group means to respect each other for what ever they are, develop positive attitude and good behavior. In overall working in a group means to develop interpersonal skills, which is very important for developing ourselves and or organization. If the person works independently, the there will not be the second opinion, not remarks, and even it would be difficult to organize the work in large scale.

All the organizations in the world are implementing their goals successfully in groups, without which globalization would not have been possible. All the institutions, organizations and homes can only be good place to work and live if all members can work coordinately. Everyone can work independently according to the necessity and until and unless there is will. But everyone will not have the capacity to work in group which is in fact the important for the long term relationship, and vision.

Thus, to empower oneself and to empower our home, community, nation and world, everyone of us must be able to work in group.

Man has always been a social animal.  It is established that most of his achievements are attributed to social structure and team work.  So, it is more important to be able to work with a group of people on a team than to work independently.

Every person has a knowledge unique to himself.  No person has complete knowledge about any subject.  People have different approaches and contribute in different ways to the same cause.  So, a group of persons can contribute more to a cause than a single person can do.

Having many persons working together also helps in the fact that a group can execute its plans more strongly and in a better way, whereas a single person may fail to do so because of lack of opinion or resolution.

A team also promotes team spirit.  There is a healthy competition within the group members and this breeds innovative ideas by provoking thoughts.  On the other hand, a single person thinks in his own way.  The possiblity of verification and hence improvements are less than they are in a group.  I fear he may continue to make same mistakes and will realize them very late.

A team person draws ideas from each of his teammates and hence is more exposed to the current progresses and latest methods in his field.  A single person may need to put a lot of effort, (often impractical) to gain an equal amount of knowledge.

At some or the other stage in one's life, everybody should work wih others.  A person working in a team learns to live with many persons and work in harmony with strangers.  Meanwhile he gets rid off his individual complexes which might have adverse effect on one's profession.  These lessons he learnt in his team are also important assets in his personality that he carries home.  But, a person working independently would not have experienced these things.  He may find it difficult to work with others in future. He will have to start afresh and learn to cope with the group when it is inevitable.

Hence, I strongly feel that team work is essential in everybody's life.  It brings out the best out of a person.  Even a brilliant person cannot strive for excellence without anybody's assistance.  Therefore, it is very important to develop team's attitude.

If it is decided to build a statue or monument to honor a famous person in my country, I would choose Mahatma Gandhi- The father of our nation.Though there are many other personalities who have contributed to the country and will be a part of the unforgettable glorious past of our country, but Mahatma Gandhi's contribution to his country and fellowmen is irreplacable.

Mahtama Gandhi was a person who made it possible to achieve independence from British rule. He believed in the principle of non-violence which he followed throughout his life till he breathed his last. Due to his realistic approach,our country was able to free itself from the shackles of injustice and slavery.

Mahatma Gandhi was an advocate by profession but he spent his entire life for his country and lived a most simple and disciplined life.He invented the spinning wheel which was meant to teach the people of the country a means of producing their own cloth for wearing instead of relying upon the foreign goods.The superior example of his simplicity and determination to achieve anything in life is a inspiration for the generations to come.

In conclusion, Mahatma Gandhi in my opinion truely deserves the respect of people  and also the title given to him as The father of the Nation. Any monument/statue in his memory can prove to be a mark of respect for the great personality.

Most cities have Statues, monuments, and memorials named after famous people who made a difference in some way to that Country. It is the wonderful way of remembering their good deeds and retaining them in the peoples memory for a long time to come.   Recently the muncipal corporation of the city where I live in, which is Mumbai, India decided to build a monument.

So they decided to take a citizens poll for this. Like most people in my city, I feel that a monumnet for Mahatma Gandhi would be an ideal way of giving our tributes to him and remembering him for the sacrifices he made for the freedom of our nation. Respectfully known as "The father of our nation" he was the person responsible for getting freedom from the britishers.

In the 1940's while my country was under the british rule, there was only one sole voice and the entire country and the whole free world stood behind him. The reason behind this being, his idealogy which was based on non-volience and non-co-operation against the british rulers. His non-co-operation movement and the swadeshi movement (which means using only things made indegenously) was so successful that the british rule crumbled under on their own and were forced to leave our country.

Never in history had such a feat been acheived without an armed revolution or a military assault.
So like most of the citizens of my city and young people like me who owe our freedom to this one man, I feel that this monument should be built in his name. This monument will remind all our future generations of this simple yet great man and showcase his will and determination for ages to come.

Every country in this world has some specific customs or practices which differentiates itself from other countries. Basically these customs and practices of countries have been established long before by ancestors and is passed from generation to generation through ages. It is because of these customs that make a country unique, for instance the carnival of Brazil is one of the most unique experiences in the world and an inseparable part of my country.

I live in Rio de janiro, Brazil.The carnival is one such custom which has been followed for decades. It is what which brings us brazilians together as one. It is this one time of the year where all the people, rich and poor, of my country come together to celebrate this festival of fun, joy and brotherhood.

Since, mine is a developing country and still 40 % of my country's population live on or under the poverty line, this carnival is the only place where they can all get together and have fun. Besides it also generates a lot of business and revenue for my country. This is also the main source of tourist attraction of our country which attracts millions of tourists throughout the world. All this results in a major source of employment for people from various backgrounds be it artistic or technical. The carnival itself has resulted in many specialized businesses like costume making, lightings and event and stage show companies.

So in my opinion every country should have some sort of major event like the carnival which will bring together the entire country as one. The benefits of this are many, some of which like revenue from tourism, creation of new businesses and jobs and a means of getting together for fun being some of them. So it is this is one custom from my country which every other country in the world should try and adopt. It may not be similiar in size and scale, but governments can make a effort to replicate it to some extent as it involves all the people of the country and encourages a feeling of happiness and brotherhood.

I am originally from Romania and I must admit that living in Canada is very much different. The people, the way they think and react, but most of all their customs. There is one custom from my home country that I miss, videlicet the way one receives guests. It is not only a custom but also one of the main Romanian traits: the hospitality. It would be nice that other countries adopt this custom.

I have chosen this specific custom as I consider it very specific to Romanians. People from my country would make everything for their guests to feel like home and this apply not only for their close friends but also for unknown persons. I can proudly say that Romanians make a wonderful host to everybody enters their homes.

Let's assume that a person newly arrived in the country is to stay with a Romanian family for a while. It is a cozy and warm feeling when in hours  you start feeling like you belong to that place. The Romanian family will be friendly and warm-hearted, trying to make the guest staying as pleasant as possible. They will be very communicative and keen to appease the guest's need, giving him or her a special importance. The guests will certainly feel like there is somebody who is looking after them. It is impossible to experience the stranger feeling if you are to be welcomed by a Romanian.
Besides this kindly welcome, the guest will be amazed to see that the best food and treats were prepared in his/her honor. Yes, this is very specific to Romanians to treat their guests like they were kings. The table will abound in the most sophisticated and exquisite dishes.
And the treatment does not stop here. If the guest is going to stay for a while in the country, the Romanians will not miss the chance to take him/her out at least to show the city where they live if not other nice places in the surroundings.

I tried to depict the Romanian hospitality in order to make myself understood why I chose this specific custom to be adopted by other countries. It can be viewed as a subjective standpoint because I am pretty new in Canada and my memories from my arrival here are quite fresh.

I'm originally from Armenia. There are a lot of customs in that ancient orthodox country.
The custom from Armenia that I would like people from other countries to adopt is that the young family has to live together with parents.
This custom is very special in Armenia.
   Most people in the world contend that married young couple has to live alone.
I understand that point of view. Their reason is independence, that adult can show when he lives without the parents.
However this is not always true. We are well aware that interaction between parents and children is very important for human being during all their life.
Parents give us that life, and then they feed us and teach how to survive in that cruel world, give us proper education. And we have no right to leave them alone when they became old and weak, we must support them.
   Moreover, we are well aware that upbringing has very important role in forming a person. When we live together with parents and grandparents, they can teach our children and give them what we enable to give, the right and moral upbringing. Young people usually don't have enough time to spend with young’s.
   So, what is the bottom line? One family has to live together. And this is very important for all of us. We show respect for parents, bringing up our children and give them to the best future they can have.

        In our world there are many different customs that differ from one country to another. My country has one that, in my opinion, can be adopted by many other countries. My country inhabitants called it "Martisor". In spring, people give each other a gift of a white and red piece of string, which means revival of the environment.

        One of my reasons is that this custom is symbol of life and health. In our competitive world, when we often forget to enjoy the simplest things in our life such as flowers, trees, fresh air, walking with friends and family, or in other words have a good time, "Martisor" is not a simple gift. Our life are very complicated and stressful. Therefore, in my opinion, this custom will benefit to all people all over the world.

        Another important reason is that one can make a lot of friends by giving them his inexpensive gift. Also, he can make it by himself because it is very easy to make and you do not need special acknowledge how to make it. For example, I feel very happy when somebody gives me such a gift. This is not because I like surprises. When somebody give you a gift, this means he is proud of you, he love you, or even he want to make you happy, to see your smile or a look in your eyes.

        In conclusion, I can say that if I had an opportunity to choose one custom, I would select "Martisor" because everybody can make a lot of friends enjoying life and having a good time by giving them this symbol of life and health.

Technology as we all know has changed the way we live our lives in this new millenium. It has affected each and every faucet of people from all countries irrespective of cultural and physical boundaries. Now many people may argue with the fact that, not all change brought due to the technological revolution has resulted in progress for the human kind. But I strongly support the argument that technology has made the world a better place to live. I will explain my point of view with examples and reasoning in the following paragraphs.

First of all, technology has improved the quality of our lives. For example, in our working lives where we use computers, which help us plan and execute our work faster. And also for instance the communication technology which has revolutionized the way people around the world talk and share information. Previously, pigeons were used to transmit information, now due to efforts of many scientists and organizations we have mediums such as e-mail, telephone, fax which allow people to share information, in ways which was never thought possible before. All this results in people meeting and sharing thoughts and exchanging knowledge, which eventually leads to betterment of mankind.

Secondly, It has made it possible to do things unimagined before. For instance, it was never thought possible to cure people of some diseases and disabilities. But path breaking applications of radioactive isotopes in cancer treatment and artifical limb implants in disabled persons are some instances where technology has given people a new ray of hope.

It has also resulted in increasing the effciency of humans. A good example of this are the machines used in factories which are 1000 times more effecient in doing some repetitive tasks compared to humans. This results in industry being able to supply the increasing demands of the ever increasing population. Good examples of this are cars and packaged food products.

Technology has also given us a second chance in case of unexpected events like diseases and natural calamities. Because of technology we can better respond to these problems. For example, vaccines are used extensively thoughtout the world when any particular pandemic or epidemic breaks out and now less lives are lost due to natural disasters than before, thanks to the state of the art search and rescue equipment.

Lastly, it has given us a purpose of our life. For example space technology has stived to explain our origins in the universe. Meanwhile also finding the roots of our own evolution. All this results in a better understnding of the forces of nature controlling our existence and better utilizing them for our own good.

In conclusion, I fully support the statement that technology has made our world a better place to live and also gives us a means by which we can preserve the best of our world for future generations to come.

Advertising is an all powerful tool in todays world where communication means are varied and accessible by all, and reaching the target audience with the right message makes all the difference. Advertising is a medium through which, people can be educated about a particular issue at hand. Advertising can be about a new product, a new business oppurtunity or in this case about a country. I strongly agree with the statement that advertising can inform, educate and can tell a lot about the country. I will support my argument through examples and reasoning given below.

Advertising can be of many forms: Printed and published information, through broadcast media (radio and television) and now the most important emerging means of all; that of the Internet. All these forms of advertising have their own advantages and dis-advantages. Advertising is generally responsible for the first impressions of a country in people's minds. In this case, what they hear about a particular country for the first time through any means of advertising, will result in it being a true picture of a country for that person / country.

So that's the reasons why governments of some developed countries have taken this issue of projecting the right image of their country through advertising very seriously. This is proven by the fact that their tourism numbers and advantages of living and working in their country are most highlighted than other countries. This is nonetheless important in todays competitive global environment where countries are competing against each other to attract new investments and business in their country. All this directly efects the economic and development scene of the country as good or bad advertising can directly result in the country's growth.

For instance, in my country India, the Information technology ministry has spent substantial finances and efforts to highlight India's advantage as a global source for information technology workers. This in fact has resulted in growth in the Gross Domestic Product of our country there by raising the standard of people living in this country and giving a nacent industry a chance to grow in a free capital environment. This coundn't have been acheived without concentrated advertising of our advantages and economic benefits of developing software in India.

So I conclude to say that Advertising can not only tell a lot about a country but can also result in bring growth to the ecomony and prosperity to its people. Adding to that, I would like every government of the world taking efforts to promote the best their county has to give to the world, here by promoting peace and prosperity among all nations.

When I read this topic, I understand that we are to talk about whether or not we can learn anything about a country just by looking at its advertisements, even those that are not specifically about that country. In other words, could we learn something about India simply by watching its ads on TV? Radio? Newspapers? Does Coca-cola, McDonald's or Nestlé promote itself differently in India than it does in other countries? And, if so, does that tell us anything about India? Or about the other countries?

Diverse cultures and backgrounds lead to people having different perceptions and understandings about a product. Advertising is thus an art to communicate, the qualities of a product and its use to the people in their percieved language. And in doing so, advertising definetely will tells us a lot about a country.
People tend to place a lot of significance on  details like color, packaging style, special symbols, celebrities who model for the product, relgious and traditional sentiments. These factors definetly make the advertising of the same prodcut different in each country.
Color plays an important role in choosing a product, Red represents passion, excitement,danger and power, most communist countries love this color,but a few countries consider this sinister and it is the color of mourning in the orient. Green is a favourite color for the muslims, but often green tends to represent fresh and vegetarianism, which would'nt go well with all products. White is considered a depressive color,and a color of mourning in India, but in China White represents happiness. Hence while advertising color plays an important role, if a red colored product is advertised in a islamic country, it may be rejected but could have surprisign response in a red loving country. Pepsi wisely invested several dollars in research and found out that blue was a universally accepted color and immediately changed its brand color to blue from red , thus saving millions of dollars on advertising.
Celebrities and stars often carry a lot of weightage on an individual's decision about buying something.They symbolise their fantasy and  identify with them. If there favourite star, sportsman or model is promoting a product, they would buy it irrespective of its utility and need.
Revlon is a leading cosmetic brand world wide, instead of one promoter, the brand has a promoter for each country. Halle Berry a Miss America promotes the brand in Usa, the american women identify her and are in awe of her beauty. Now that they know Revlon products are the secret of her beauty they will tend buying the products too. But if the same ad is shown in India, where a select few know about her, the prodcut would hardly sell. instead if a local model or a star the Indian women identify with,promotes the brand, the product would do good here too.
Similarly sentiments and traditional values differntiate advertsing from each country. Lets take an example of an ad for a wrist watch. A ad in a Western country would show a top model, a star or a sportsman promoting the product, as an accessory to his designer suit, shoes etc. Here the product is perceived as an accessory, but the same product is perceived as a luxury in India. Hence the ads would show the product being given as gifts during important occassions like weddings graduations etc.
A same product having a single utility and purpose in different countries is perceived differently based on the above factors, and determine the advertising which tells us about that country.

I agree that modern technology is creating a single world culture because it disseminates knowledge  beyond the geographic  borders of a location. When people communicate they exchange ideas and feelings. In the ancient era, culture was passed from parents to children by spoken language. Knowledge, traditions and beliefs were transferred  to the youngest through speaking and in some cases writing or drawing. Thus, at that time, culture was very restricted to the tribe, village or the community were they lived.

It will be seen that how peoples life had changed with this revolution. Internet serves huge valuable information to the socities that knows how to benefit from it. However access to so much information creates problems. In this essay I will give some examples of both advantages and disadvantages of Internet that effects peoples life, and I will argue in favor of Internet.

Internet provides people so much information. Not always, information accessed from the internet is benefitical. For example children can access sites that can be harmfull to their physological growing as porn and satanical contented sited. This will harm the values of society. But this and some few reasons are not enough to judge internet as an harmfull device.

First of all, Internet serves to people as a enormous library that can be easily accessed. One can get any information that one needs at any time even from home. If a foreign has only one day to spend in my country I would want him to go to one of the most exciting corner of my country, Chitral valley.I belong to one of the beautiful countries of world, Pakistan. It is blessed with a lot of scenic places of diffrent kinds. You can find sky rising mountains, cool streams, noisy seas and green fields streched to acres and acres.Well of course there are other attractions too like high tech parks, shopping centres, fancy buildindgs etc.But I am recommending chitral valley becauseI would like him to spend that time in a memorable place and one of that is Chitral valley.
It is surrounded by world famous Himalyan peaks.There are huge areas filled with greenery.While travelling to it every turn gives such a scenic view that u would want this journey to contoinue all you'r life.
Residents of Chitral valley are very simple people.They are not much educated but are very friendly and honest. They give a lot of respect to their guests and thats one of the reasons that I want the foreign visitors to go there.Here they can see not only natural beauty of surroundings, but can also find the natural simplicity of human beings.They can interact with them and enjoy the pleasures of superb hospitality which they will find no where else.
This valley is also an excellent place for all those who are tired of their stressful lives. It promises to them that life is still ful of inumerable pleasures for them.They just have to go and find it.
Every sun rise and sunset has a different beauty in that place.When light start coming from the Esatren mountains it brings along with it warm colors .
Weather of that place is very comfortable in summer.With low tempratures and cool breezes it is easy to move around and explore the place. In the winter snow may hasten your movement but still charm of place persist.
There are excellent Tourist services available there ,so any problem of language or directions can't with hold visitors from enjoying the place.
I would like all of the visitors to go and see that place .They will always remember it and can't find such an adventurous place again in their lives.

  I suggest the visitor to go to Bangalore, the garden city if India. As the name suggets, it really has many beautiful gardens and has many other enchanting places as well.

  There is the famous park,Lalbagh, which is built as a commemorative of the builder of Bangalore, Kempegowda. This amazing park houses lots and lots of plant species, hence it is called "heaven of plants". There is also a zoo which houses some of the very rare forms of the animal life.

  There is  a place named Souharda sqaure, meaning the square of harmony. There is a Hindu temple. a Church and a Mosque placed side by side. This illustrates the communal harmony inborn in the Indians and makes one get stunned in the current scenario of religious commotion.

  The climate in Bangalore is very much equable. During summer or winter, the temperature does not rise or fall considerably, unlike other Indian cities. This will make the visitor feel comfortable
and at home, if he is from a country of equable climate, as it is in most of the western nations.

  One must visit Bangalore to experience the culinary variety and expertise of the Indians. All kinds of Indian, even foriegn food are available in Bangalore for very reasonable prices.

  Combining all the factors above, I think this should be more than enough to make a visitor to visit the beautiful city of Bangalore.

        To think of one place which a foreigner should visit if he gets a chance to spend one day in my country is not an easy job. I belong to India which is known throughtout the world for its rich cultural heritage. India has a myriad of monuments and sites displaying the astonishingly beautiful designs and architecture which will definitely attract any foreigner. Still if choosing one out of them is inevitable I would go for the TajMahal in Agra city.
        TajMahal is the only historical monument of India which was ever included in the wonders of the world. Truly enough its apt to be called a wonder. The grand structure fully constructed in white marble presents such a beutiful sight which cannot leave any heart untouched with its splendour. Its known for its architecture and beauty. Even  people possessing least of artistic taste are left awestruck after seeing it. TajMahal symbolises love. Emperor Shahjahan had constructd this tomb in the loving memory of his dearest wife Mumtaz Mahal. Nowhere in the world can anybody find another example of such an exquisite memento of love.   
        When a person visits a new country he is generally interested in knowing the history of that country. TajMahal is apt in satisfying this inquisitiveness of the visitors. It carries with itself the history of the Mughal empire which ruled India for around a decade. Foreigners will find ample opportunity to know more about Indian history during the medieval period.
        Besides, a person visiting TajMahal can also pay a visit to the grand  Red fort in the same city. Fort will help in augmenting the visitor's historical knowledge.
        Taj Mahal is situated in Agra which is a traditional city of India. Till now it has not experienced enough modernisation to be called a metropolitan. This fact is an advantage because it provides a chance to the visitors to observe Indian culture and traditional life style from close quarters.
       Though there are numerous tourists spots in India, TajMahal in Agra is the one which can attract people from all spheres of life. For some other places like the temples of South India special interest in history and architecture is needed. The growing number of foreigners visiting the monument proves the fact. Hence in my opinion, if a foreigner is visiting India just for a day, there cannot be a better place to visit than the TajMahal at Agra.

A country is represented by her people. She will be revered or belittled by the way her people behave. If I had a chance to suggest a place to a foriegn visiter to visit in my country, I am glad and proud to suggest "The Banyan", a non profit organization in Chennai, India.

The very first reason to suggest a place like this instead of stunning, scenic beautiful natural places is that every where in this world, we can relax ourselves by visiting a naturally beautiful, peaceful place. But "The Banyan" is a place where metally ill distuted, forsaken women get shelter.

The reason why I was very much impressed by "The Banyan" is,  It is the perfect rehabilitation center, found by two college girls Vandhana and Vaishnavi  without any strong political as well as economial background but with their strong fire for helping people. After facing number of problems, they established this organization. Now this organization has hundreds of members.

When I first visited "The Banyan" I was really melted.I saw women who were not even aware of their name . I saw small kids affected by AIDS , but still playing cheerfully with out knowing about the danger they are facing. When I was speaking with one of the women, she said, " I feel very comfortable here. With the help of The Banyan I have the confident that, in the near futyre, rejoin with my near and dear ones from whome i was sepereated for the reason that I have forgotten already. "

If the visitor sees this organization, he can realize that our country has such a bold and helping minded people like these girls. These girls are the best persons to represent my country.I am really very proud to suggest this place to a new vistor.

If I get a chance to go back to to one place and time in the past I would undoubtedly chose the year 1947. The simple reason behind my choice is that it was the year when my country evetually succeded in attaining independence ,owing to thier cumulative efforts, from the treacharous british rule. It was truly a victory meant to be celebrated with all heart.

Why I want to be there during that time is because the fact that hundreds of millions of people whole heartedly rebuked against the government and were prepared to sacrifice everything that belonged to them, including thier lives. And at such a time, for someone like me from todays world to be present there and just try to be a part of their revolution is truly a fascinating thought.

Having read loads of books which retrospectively recreate the sacrifices of the matyres of that time, I have always dreamt myself as one of them. To walk side by side along with the heroic freedom fighters of that time who raised arms and fought till thier death is another one of the things I have wanted to act out in real life.

As told to me by the books and my teachers, everyone then had a feeling of undestructable unity toward their countrymen and the nation, the feeling of brotherhood, something highly lacking in todays times. This being another one of the reasons why I not only want to pay a visit to that glorious period of time, but stay there permanently.

A newspaper editorial once stated, "If it wasn't for Mahatma Gandhi and his likes, India, even today, would be like a puppet in the hands of todays communist world, open to all sorts of exploitation."

Everyone has some fond memories of their past.Each one of us wish to go back in time to enjoy those days again,though we knoe that it is not practically possible.

I would love go back in time and place and try to relive the days before I got married.I would want to spend more time with my parents and sister.Enjoy the freedom I had in taking some decisions.I would enjoy doing the same things I used to do,like going to the college,having fun with my friends without having the pressure of going back home soon and look after my husband and kids.I used to enjoy the cool breeze of the small town,where I come from.There was no pollution,no traffic.The flowers would be in full bloom at this time of the year.The night skies would be claer with twinkling stars and the bright moon.

Right now,though I enjoy my life to the fullest,I am the one who is taking care of everyone at home,with no time left for myself.In the days before my marriage,I had my mother to take care of me,when I was sick she would sit beside me,rubbing my forehead and soothing me.I would immediately feel better.These days,even if I am sick,I have to cook and clean and there is no one to even share my pain with.I had some financial burden then too but it was not as it is now.I have this constant feeling of pressure to work hard and earn more so that tomorrow my children persue whatever they want to without thinking about money and if they can afford it or not.And the busy city life,the roads filled with dirt,the polluted air that gets into my lungs choaking me at times.I dont have many friends here as I moved here recently and people are so that no one finds time to socialise.

But realistically,I am a more confident person than I was in those days.I dont feel I am being watched upon by my mother.I love the house I have now,which is my own,my children and my husband.I am content with the success I have in my career.It is only when I am tired of the monotony and the pressure of adult life that I would like to go back in time and place to the days before my marriage and to my home town,relax under a tree and enjoy the cool pure breeze.

If time travel were possible, I would certainly want to go back to the year that I graduated high school. This time was filled with excitement, carelessness, and hope for the future.

The prospect of graduating high school and becoming one of the elite was definitely a magical period of time. Most of my high school classes were complete and preparations were being made for the prom. My friends and I though we could conquer the world. All of the responsibilities of adulthood certainly lay in our future.

After graduation, that carefree summer was filled with amusement. Daily trips to the beach and  hanging out with friends at different bars at night, made me wish this time would never end. My buddies and I often talked about our plans for college and how easy life would be once we graduated with a degree. There would be time enough to deal with life's problems later on.

Looking towards the future probably wasn't the best thing to do at the time. Stepping back and enjoying the present would have made more sense. If only I knew then what I know now, with age comes wisdom and with memories comes nostalgia.

Finally, that marvelous age of transition from youth to adulthood would be the period I would most like to return to. Show me the way to the time machine!

First of all,, Malaysian economy used to be in agricultural based, meaning most people in my country rely on agricultural activities as the main source of income.

The discovery of electronics has creates demand for electronics devices such as computers and television. And the benefits to my country started when we see many electronics factories been established in my country. The set up of these factories create job opportunities as well as other business opportunities to people in my country.

With the set up of these factories, the economy of my country has been doing well. The younger generation in my country are educated and trained as knowledge workers. Many of them are works as electronics engineers or specialists in the related areas. Some of them as proven their capability and being hired to work oversea. This will not happen without the discovery of electronics technologies.

Therefore, if I can name one of the discovery that has been the most beneficial to the people in my country - it is electronic technologies. Because it helps to transform my country economy from agricultural based to industry based and now towards knowledge based economy in future. Definitely we are living in the era of communication and it never was so important as it is today. I disagree that telephones and email have made communication between people less personal and will detail my reasons in this essay.

The society we live in runs in a very fast pace. We meet new people all the time and from everywhere. Since the telephone was invented, it has helped out a lot of people keep in contact to one another. Sometimes is hard to see a friend personally just because he or she do not live close to you. Letters are efficient but usually take a long time to reach the destiny. And sometimes it gets lost on its way. Telephones are different, you talk in real time and your listen to the others’ voice as you were together in the same place. You can laugh together, exchange confidences, know about the latest news and so on. In other words, you can really keep a very warm personal conversation through telephone.

Internet has made communication easier because it  became incredibly inexpensive in the last years. Thus you can communicate with friends more often not mattering where they are from. I have myself friends in many parts of the world and whenever is possible I write them an email. Without Internet probably many of this friends would vanish with the passing of time just because you lose contact.

Maybe Graham Bell never thought his invention will reach this further. With more functions incorporated, telephones, nowadays, offer a vast array of possibilities than just a simple conversation. Images, movies and written documents can be sent easily through a telephone line. And working together with the internet, a video conference can a be arranged with people located in many parts of the world. Not forgetting to mention the mobile phones that made possible communicate from anywhere.

For me, it is hard to think our society without this two means of communication: telephones and email. We are totally dependent on them. I see this inventions as mechanisms to bring people together rather than merely technological devices. In some occasions, telephones, particularly, can turn out to be your best friend because it may save your life when you are in trouble. So, I disagree with the statement “Telephones and email have made communication between people less personal”.

Today almost everybody has a telephone and a computer, which is connected to the Internet. These inventions has some positive sides-especially when we should talk to a person who is a long distance away from us; nevertheless they have one negative side -they make communications between people less personal.
When I was a child neither we have a telephone, nor a computer connected to the Internet. Now we have both. However, I do not use them very much in order to communicate. I am not used to making a telephone call or sending e-mail yet. I would rather speak directly with the person I want to. In this way, I could see his or her reaction to what I say and thus it is easier to talk. Actually, this is the reason why people prefer to talk in person rather than using a telephone.   
  The other popular way to communicate is via sending e-mails. This, according to me, is the least personal way for communicating and the hardest way, as well. When we send an e-mail we sometimes either have not seen this person, or we do not know anything about him. Therefore, we cannot easily choose what to write him. Another thing that makes this kind of communication so impersonal is the e-mails, which are sent when we became members to an Internet site. These e-mails are sent to every member and text is the same.
All at all, e-mails and telephones make communications impersonal. Thus, for some people it is very difficult to communicate in this way. I hope that when further advancements  of these technologies are made this problem will be solved.

Throughout our lives we come to know about a lot of persons. Some of them impress us to such an extent that we wish to meet them ,but its not always easy.If they are alive , then it could be a possibility but those who have passed away can only be met in our imaginations.If some how it becomes possible to travel back in time to meet a legend I would love to meet Allama Iqbal.
    Allama Iqbal is one of the well known poets of South Asia.He is known not only for his poetry but also for the passion and inspiration which he created in his country men for freedom and independance.He was a dreamer like all poets, but his dream, to have  an independent country for muslims of south Asia , became true by his efforts.
    He was born in 1876 in India which at that time was under British rule.Before that for years, India was under muslim ccontrol.What he saw during his early youth made him depressed.Inequality in standard of living of muslims and other people made him realize that it needs an intervention to bring back muslims to glory. It was a hard task. In those days he had chance to go to England for higher studies in law.When he came back home he had a plan to improve situation here.
    Allama Iqbal used education to improve the situation.He believed in power of pen, so he began to write poems. In his poetry he told hos country men what are their short comings and to get rid of them. He had an exceptional ability to write and inspire his readers.Soon people began to understand his message.He created awareness about unity and peace.He believed nothing can be achieved until whole nation gets united for a cause and then work for it.He wanted peace in region and strived hard for it.
     When message was widespread , rate of education increased and people began to organize themselves. They made a political organization . Later in one of his messages he suggested that if a separate state for muslims can be made in their area of majority they can propress better. In this way 2 states will be made, one for muslims and other for people of other religions.In this way evey one will be happy.The basis of this division was diffrences in life style of two nations.His theory was to work through political parties and legislation to achieve this goal.
   In the begining it seemed an impossible task but by hard work of a big group of leaders finally it was possible.An election was held in which public showed their support for this theory.Later there was a lonf phase of conferences in which every body agreed on a plan and then 2 countries appeard on map of world.
This was a unique example of founding a new country, on the basis of ideology.And the whole process was based on political commitment  education and awareness.
   Allam Iqbal always stressed on three things in his poetry : Unity , Faith and discipline.And these are the elements which can make a nation prosperous in world.
    Thats a brief account of the life of a great poet and leader. His commitment and his message is what inspires me most.Thats why I would like to meet him if I have  a chance to travel back in history.

If I ever had the fortune to travel back in time and meet one famous person from history, it would undoubtedly be Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhi selflessly fought for the freedom of his people and strove to lift his country from the dangers of colonisation. To achieve his end, he did not take up arms but introduced a new method of resistance: non-violence. Though his new methods were widely criticised as being ineffective, he was persuaded of the rightness of his principles and held steadfastedly to his beliefs. History proved him right. He must have required great courage and will power to hold on to his beliefs in the face of criticism and protests. In the modern world, it is difficult to find a leader who is as selfless and courageous as he was.

He was the first leader to raise the problem of untouchability in India and fought to eradicate it. Though his efforts did not meet with total success, he paved the way for the emancipation of the lower sections of the society which was able to break the taboos in the society and take part in the nation-building activities like never before.

Gandhi's ideas and principles influenced other leaders in other countries: Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King used his non-violent methods to seek an end to apartheid and slavery respectively. The influence Gandhi had on the world was best illustrated when Time magazine elected him as one of the Three Persons of the Century after numerous polls conducted in several countries around the world.

More than ever before, modern world - wherein leaders are motivated more by the power and control that leadership entails than by a real desire to serve their people - needs a selfless, compassionate and tolerant leader like Gandhi, who influenced his contemporaries and will continue to influence the world in the future.

Topic (if you could  travel back in time to meet a famous person from history, what person would you like t meet? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice)

     There are many famous persons that I would love to meet them. I am classical music performer and I want to see a person in my major. I choose Jascha Heifetz , the most fabulous and powerful violinist in the last century, to meet him because I could learn many things from him; moreover, I could ask him to give me his transfigured notes in addition to hear his performance alive and feel his endless soul in that wishful meeting.
          In the last there were many classical music performers who we have just have a recorded performance from some of them. We can hear what they had played perfectly but we can’t perform the pieces like them. If they were belong to this period, we could learn many things from them but unfortunately they belong to history. This is why I wish I would meet Jascha Heifetz to ask him my incessant questions and learn many things from him.
         Heifetz arranged, edited and transfigured many pieces just for his own performance but he never published his work and stiles. I mention Bach’s Chaconne for instance, this beautiful piece had been arranged and changed in some of its parts by Hiefetz and many pieces like this but his change faced the hard critics from performers and composers of that time who could never understand his work so he never published his arrangements and it remained as a myth to most of performers and this is my other reason that I choose him to meet in the history and ask him to bless me with his transfigured notes.   
         Regard to what I told first, I would love to see many persons from the past but if I could choose one of them, I would choose Heifetz to see and learn many things from him. Unfortunately this meeting will remain as a dream forever and Heifetz and his works will always remain as a myth to all of us

If I had the chance to travel back in time to meet a famous person from history, I would like to meet german scientist Albert Einstein, because I consider him being the best physicist of all times and an extraordinary intellectual. He made a valuable contribution to humanity.

Born inGerman in 1870’s, Einstein became the most famous scientist of the twentieth century. His studies revolutionized and reshaped scientific thinking. I find interesting the complexity of his mind and spirit. He was in conflict with his deep religious feelings, he said that the Bible could not be literally true, and this thoughts also allowed Einstein to discard scientific prejudices. He stated that problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them. His creativity amazes me, after Einstein’s work, space and time would never again be the same.

Not only his scientific work is fascinating to me, but also his sense of humor, just to give an example of that I will tell that he once said that gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. He was an undoubted revolutionary, an innovator and also a philosopher and a pacifist. He believed that he owed his success to imagination, that fantasy had meant more to him than the talent for absorbing knowledge. I totally agree with him about that. Since I am interested in science I admire him very much for his great contribution to humanity, I would have been pleased to meet him and work with the genius and emblematic master of science that he was.

To conclude I say that I would choose to meet Einstein who is acknowledged as the gratest physicist that ever lived because I have always found fascinating his reasoning and the significant contribution to science he had made.
