I welcome expressions of interest from prospective PhD students who wish to work on themes that are tightly linked to my own research. If you are interested in studying under my supervision, please send me a letter or email with the following information:
* Your research ideas and questions you’d like to work on (the more specific the better)
* Why you want to do a PhD and your ultimate career goals
* Why you are interested in the Environmental Studies Department at UCSC and working with me in particular
* Your current CV
* Your academic transcript (unofficial is fine)
* Your last TOEFL score if English is not your first language
Thank you very much for being in contact, and for your interest in the research
in my laboratory. As you may know, at our program students do not need to
apply to a specific laboratory, but simply apply to the Interdepartmental
Neuroscience Program at Yale (http://info.med.yale.edu/neurosci/). If you end
up coming to Yale as a graduate student I would be very happy to discuss setting
up a rotation and future graduate studies in my laboratory, although you would
be free to choose whichever laboratory here best suits your goals and interests.
Best regards, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance,
Hal
