lz真的是说出了心声 也拿了UWM 一年研究生申请的时候其实自己的变化不大 connection也不能说很给力 留本校又有点难。。。。 UWM倒是据说算是不错的学术跳板
拿到LSE OFFER的时候我就是这样纠结 难留下来难外跳 但是又舍不得拒

你以為你在選校, 其實不 - 你在思考人生, 思考甚麼是重要的, 發掘自己真正想要甚麼和走怎樣的路.

當學校之間的長短已經很清楚, 但自己還不不了決定的時候, 就正正說明了問題不在不知道每個choice的outcome, 而是不知道自己的preference.....

如果你不計class size和overall reputation的話,
LSE無論在academic reputation還是industrial reputation, 在master level都是比cambridge好的....

class size不是问题……overall reputation剑桥太难忽视了……………………
分别是哪里的academic reputation 和 Industrial reputation呢？
如果是美国博士和英国或香港就业的话，还真要认真考虑下……我本来已经准备decline了。。

academic reputation: check academic ranking, publishcation.......both tilburg ranking and ideas......LSE > Cambridge for both. heard that Cambridge was quite far away from mainstream for some historial reason, and I bet all the academics in economics over the world will see the difference........as this is related to journal and networks.....

industrial reputation: 其實分別不大, 最後都是靠自己interview的表現. but according to data gathered by other forum (forgot uk student room / wall street oasis / etc...), they shown that LSE places the biggest numbers of graduation to London BB front office (but as long as one is in the target school, it depends on oneself more than the school). I guess the reason behind is more about the location (and thus networking), and the career enviornment of LSE, rather than industial repuation indeed. The main difference is not on the name you have, but on the enviornment (環境薰陶) which will exposure one more on the career side.....(be honest I hate that, i don't like this......)

overall reputation: 這個能吃的嗎? but be frank, if I get the offer from Cambridge, it will be a very very hard decision for me to give me up to take LSE......even though i know that LSE is way better....如果我拿了oxford mphil的話我鐵定扔下LSE, 不過cambridge就真的hard decision....(disclaimer: 申過oxford lse都被拒了, cambridge 沒申過). I think I possibly end up choosing cambridge, as I am not really motivated enough to do PhD in economics.....

location: location indeed doesn't matter too much.........the trend will be the same for UK, HK, US........unless you go to some developing country which are really far from UK, e.g. China.....
