I fundamentally disagree with the assertion that we must choose between tradition and modernization which ostensible incompatible with each other. Actually, tradition and modernization are more harmonious outweigh inconsistent.

Admittedly, tradition and modernization are incompatible to some extent. That is to say, in some special aspects, tradition and modernization would not get along with each other. With the soaring of science and technology, a few of antiquated and ridiculous traditions, such as feudalization, prefer boys to girls and so forth, which have hampered the modernization. It is necessary to make some advanced thoughts and customs replace the old-fashioned ones.

Howbeit, although there are some inconsistent ingredients between tradition and modernization, harmony and unification is the leading rhythm between them. Tradition refers to the beliefs, values, customs, ways of life, crafts that are handed from generation to generation. Only through the tradition could we realized how the modern society comes into being and the tendency of development. Without the outstanding traditions created by out ancestors, modern society will not exist. Take Spring Festival which is the most important Festivals existed for thousands of years in China for example, nowadays, Spring Festival represents the reunion and fortunate life of the whole family and be commemorated by all Chinese people. In addition, the Olympic Game are still hold every four years. Christians go to church for praying and singing a chant. Consequently, good traditions are precious treasures which would be favored by people at different times and be handed down to our descendents.

Furthermore, modernization is also established on the tradition. In other words, nearly all sorts of departments of modern society are depends on tradition. As to art, it is Shakespeare's Macbeth that makes us understand inordinate ambition is harmful. It is Van Gogh's sun flower that encourages us be hold on passion and hope to life. It is Beethoven that reanimates us be fortitudinous when encountered difficulties. The art works are not of an age, but for all time. As to science, without the Einstein's relative theory and Newton's classical Theory, science would not be so flourishing today. As Newton once said, "If I have been able to see further, it was only because I stood on the shoulder of giants." Although this is a brief word, it completely explained the indelible function of tradition.  

As what mentioned above, we can come to the conclusion that tradition and modernization carry more concordant weigh than incompatible, we should inherit excellent traditions and improve the development of human being.
