题目：ARGUMENT207 - It is known that in recent years, industrial pollution has caused the Earth's ozone layer to thin, allowing an increase in the amount of ultraviolet radiation that reaches the Earth's surface. At the same time, scientists have discovered, the population of a species of salamander that lays its eggs in mountain lakes has declined. Since ultraviolet radiation is known to be damaging to delicate tissues and since salamander eggs have no protective shells, it must be the case that the increase in ultraviolet radiation has damaged many salamander eggs and prevented them from hatching. This process will no doubt cause population declines in other species, just as it has in the salamander species.

The arguer concludes that the ultraviolet radiation has damaged salamander eggs and would also harm to other species. However, the conclusion is groundless for its incomplete thinking in the relationship between the radiation and salamander's decrease and the generalization to other species.
At first, the arguer builds the unreasonable chain between the increasing ultraviolet radiation and the decrease of the salamander. The only evidence is more ultraviolet radiation and fewer salamanders than before. However, there is no convincing survey or detailed analysis on this phenomenon. It is possible that there are no relationship between the radiation and the decrease. May be the certain salamander's living environment has been destroyed by human for some reasons such as mining, tour and so on. Perhaps the other crucial species for salamander such as the animal which feed on them have expanded during the very little time. Without ruling out these possibilities, one can not reach that conclusion.
Second, the arguer mentioned that ultraviolet radiation is known to be damaging to delicate tissues is not convincing either. No sufficient information about how the ultraviolet affects the certain tissue and how the animal would be affected. It is entirely possible that the radiation kill some bacteria which is the natural enemy of the salamander. Under this condition, the radiation would help the species but not damage them. Even the radiation has the lasting influence on the salamander, it is possible have some affect on the adult salamander, one can not attribute the key factor to the egg's destruction.
Third, the arguer makes the unwarranted assumption that the process will case the decline on other species. Every species has its own characteristic which may totally in various directions. Different can adjust them in different environment. Even the radiation has the negative influence on the salamander it may irrelevant on other species which may have the stronger ability than salamander or the species which living in the different atmosphere apart from the salamander.
In sum, the arguer is groundless for its limited information on the research which related to the relationship between ultraviolet radiation and salamander's egg. What is more, the extended conclusion is unwarranted either. To enhance them the arguer should provide more detailed information on the scientific research, and the convincing survey about other species.
