不知不觉又过零点啦 小熬了一下 不过终于可以贴上issue13啦 (待改。。。)今晚先这样,加油加油!
Nowadays there is an increasing tendency that many of the world’s lesser-known languages are being lost as fewer and fewer people speak them. Since a language is regarded as a symbol of culture and civilization, it should be well-preserved and respected by people who speak it. One of the good ways to study the culture and history of an area is to learn the language there. Therefore, the government of countries in which these languages are spoken should take responsibility to prevent such languages from becoming extinct.
Are these lesser-known languages so out-dated that they are going to be abandoned by people who once spoken them? Actually, there are several reasons for its coming vanishing. Firstly, the language itself sustains some disadvantages, such as not being clear enough and having vague meanings which leads to misunderstanding. People feel it difficult to communicate with each other by using such language, thus they intend to change for another which may be more convenient and precise to speak and write. In addition, the disappearance of these languages may be attributed to the integration of some small regions into a whole country. As the unity of a country sometimes calls for a standard of language, people who speak their own language in various regions of the country have to abandon their own language and follow a unified one. What’s more, the tendency of globalization also plays an important role in it. As a result, a large number of languages which are once spoken in tribes or some small countries vanished, while another great number of languages are in danger as fewer and fewer people speak them.
From the perspective of protecting the culture and tradition in a particular area, the governments of countries should take actions to prevent the languages there from disappearing. A language is a carrier of culture and history rather than a tool for communication. When it comes to the origin of a language, it is actually a byproduct with the development of a particular culture and tradition in an area, thus could reflect the civilization of a particular group, like a tribe or even a country to some extent. There’s no doubt that some sociologist feel it hard to explore the development of a society without fully acknowledging its language. Take the language of a minority in China for example, with the development of the whole country, all of the youngsters in that group begin to learn a more standard and unified language called mandarin in China. As a result, only an old man of that minority could speak its original language, and the youngsters know little about the history and culture of their own tribe, for they could not understand any written or audible material by that language. Indeed, some culture cannot be explained or understood by the so-called Esperanto. If a language is extinct completely, some precious material about its culture will become a mystery in the future. Governments must take actions to release this possibility.
The government should prevent the language of its country from being extinct since it represents a country’s freedom and sovereignty. Mother language is usually acclaimed as the most beautiful language in the world. However, some underdeveloped countries have to abandon their own language for some political reasons or under the influence of globalization. Consequently, it loses not only a kind of culture, but its independence and sovereignty as well. It may be argued that there’s a tendency to speak a so-called Esperanto, such as English as time passes by. However, I do not think it is feasible, for the world is going to be multiple instead of united, also every language has a special meaning to a country so that it is not valid to unify the language in the worldwide. For example, French regard speaking their mother language as a patriotic behavior, and they hardly speak English although they could communicate with it fluently. Indeed, a language has too many particular meanings related to a country’s dignity, thus the government should maintain the status of the mother language , which benefits the stabilization of a country.
To sum up, as an administration of a country, the government should take measures to protect the languages which are in danger of being extinct, including both its mother language and some languages which represent culture of a particular group. There is no controversy between protecting the multiple culture and assuring the unity of a country. Actually, it is a good choice to maintain multicolored culture and tradition throughout a country and preserve its sovereignty and independence across the world. |
