----------------------------
The author asserts that scandals of politics, academia and other areas are beneficial since they draw people's attention to some problems in way's that no speaker or reformer ever could. In my view, I concede that scandals are always sensational news which can attract people's attention, however, for most time, they're doing more harm than benefits to us.
To begin with, I admit that scandals of all areas do have a function to draw people's attention on some problems and facilitate the problems to be solved. Since people have a curiosity on those things that they never know, it's possible that a sensational scandal on TV can easily attract people's attention. The Enron company is just a case in point. Enron, which was once one of the world "Big Five" accounting firm companies, made a series of bogus accounts in order to attract the investors and hold back its big financial crisis. After the scandal was uncovered, the "Enron empire" collapsed immediately, meanwhile, this scandal draws people's attention to more economical issues, which makes more economical problems to be uncovered and settled. Thus, it's possible for the scandals to draw people's attention to some hidden problems and help solving these problems.
However, in some realms, while scandals attract people's attention on some problems, it makes children as well as teenagers to grow a gloomy view towards the whole world. For most times, scandals are sensational news because the main person or company of the scandal is quite famous and successful before. Take the former president of the United States Bill Clinton for example, there's no doubt that Clinton was one of the greatest presidents in the United States. In his politics career, he was well supported by numerous of his sustainers, including many children and teenagers. They learn from every word from his speech and treat him as their idol. However, when the sex scandal bursted out, none of them would believe it's true. This scandal not only did harm to Clinton himself, but also damage his good impression among teenagers, which will influence their future growing and the form of their minds. Except for his scandal, he was still a good president that should be paid respect. Thus, it's possible that some of the scandals which can be avoided will do harm to the growing of teenagers and children.
Moreover, scandal is always a derogatory term which brings people as well as the world negative effect. Today's media is aiming on the scandals excessively and makes people feel depressed about the world. In fact, there're more successful people and companies in the world such as Bill Gates, Einstein, Coca cola and Google. There's no doubt that the successful methods of them will encourage people to work hard to achieve their goal. Thus, why not we focus more on news of successful cases rather than those scandals? A bright world is always better than a gloomy one, isn't it?
All in all, while I concede that scandals can draw people's attention and sometimes help solve some problems, they also do harm to the mental development of teenagers and children. In final analysis, we should focus more on those good things rather than scandals in order to live a better life.
