都是TOEFL里边的，希望各位高手们帮忙解答一下~
分析不出的难句
5.Amid rumors that there were prehistoric mammoths wandering around the unknown region and that somewhere in its wilds was a mountain of rock salt 80 by 45 miles in extent, the two captains set out.（觉得没谓语，全是rumor的同位语……）
9.To appreciate fully the diversity and abundance of life in the area, it helps to think small.（不知道啥叫think small）
21.What we today call American folk art was, indeed, art of, by, and for ordinary, everyday “folks” who, with increasing prosperity and leisure, created a market for art of all kinds, and especially for portraits.（中间一对插入语是啥？……）

1 主语是the two captains，谓语是set （out）。amid XXX 整个是状语
2 从细小的方面去考虑
3 你是指was, indeed, art of, by, and for ordinary, everyday “folks”这里？拆开就是。American folk art was art of, by, and for ordinary, everyday “folks”。表示关于“人民”的，由人民制作的，面向人民的艺术。

Satire改变了写作方向，将大家熟悉的东西矛盾地摆在一起，并且以俚语写出来。<基本的看出来这三个词不用知道每个单词的意思就可以大致知道它讲什么了>
