------ISSUE42 题目------
Because learning is not a solitary activity but one that requires collaboration among people, students of all ages will benefit academically if they work frequently in groups.
由于学习不是一种孤立的行为而是需要人们之间的合作的,所以各种你年龄的学生如果经常小组学习的话就会在学术上受益匪浅。

------正文------
The speaker claims that students of all ages will benefit academically if they work frequently in groups, for the reason that learning is not a solitary activity but one that requires collaboration among people. As far as I am concerned, however, collaboration among people only plays an assistant role; overall, learning is a solitary activity.

Admittedly, the whole life of a person is a continuous process of solitary learning. When we were born, our world like a blank paper-knowing nothing. However, accompanying with our growing, through solitary and active learning, we gradually began to know the world and accumulate knowledge and experiences. Before school, we mainly learn some common sense from our parents, for instance, the sky is blue, there are 24 hours in a day, keeping hygiene is a good manner etc.; Then when we enter school, we learn from books, such as logic, rhetoric, history, moral and so on, which contribute to the well-development of our personalities; Finally we emerged in society and learn from it. For example, with the development of society the relationship among people becomes more and more complex, then we had to learn how to get along with others. Overall, from birth to death there are no circumstances that person does not need solitary learning.

However, solitary learning could be greatly improved by communicating and discussing during collaboration. Because communication could make us easily find our own shortcoming, which is just the direction for our solitary learning; it also could broaden our views and then stimulate our inspirations; at the same time we could learn other person's merits by collaboration. For instance, it is through collaboration, through continuous discussing, mutual learning and encourage, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels finally got their achievements respectively. Similarly, in the collaboration with his own instructor, Faraday's inspiration was stimulated and ultimately the famous Faraday's Law was found. All of these tell us that collaboration is one of the most effective approaches to improve and guide our solitary learning.

For the above reason, it is true that students of all ages will benefit academically if they work frequently in groups, since during collaboration and communication, young one could learn experiences and knowledge from old one, in turn younger students' novel thoughts and active attitude could stimulate the inspiration and passion of older students. However, without solitary learning as basis, the collaboration would lose its meaning. Let us suppose that a group of ignorant students-that is, students absent enough solitary learning, when they collaborate to do one experiment, can we simply say that they could benefit academically, since each of them even could not understand the experiment, not even considering communication, discuss or putting forward any valuable suggestion. In short, unless each of students have enough knowledge and have their own views through solitary learning, they will not benefit academically when they work in groups.

To sum up, with the development of society, collaboration becomes more and more important. However, solitary learning is the basis of collaboration, without this basis, the collaboration among people would become meaningless. Therefore, I disagree with the speaker's conclusion that learning is not a solitary activity but not that requires collaboration among people.
