Argument40 The following appeared in a memorandum from the president of Excello Food Markets.
"In 90 towns where Excello has food markets, natural-food stores specializing in organic food products—products containing no chemical preservatives and made with foods grown without pesticides—have opened nearby as competitors. Surveys of our own customers reveal a growing concern about foods grown using pesticides or preserved with chemicals. Recently our market in Sun City participated in a local food tasting fair, and 75 percent of the fair goers who visited the Excello booth requested free samples of organic fruit. Such evidence indicates that to increase our profits, we should begin to stock a full line of organic food products in all our markets."
In this memo, the president concludes that to increase the profits, Excello food markets should begin to stock a full line of organic food products in all our(their) markets. In order to prove this conclusion, the author provide(provides) some evidences, such as (there are,可删除更好) selling organic food competitors nearby markets, surveys of the markets' own consumers, and local food testing fair in Sun City. However, after close scrutiny, we find that these evidences lead little(few) supports on author's conclusion.
First of all, there is no detailed information to prove that the fact, which(that, which跟fact欠妥吧) 75% of the fair goers requested free samples of organic fruit in Sun City, can reveal that the market in Sun City really demands such foods. Because the food testing fair is a free survey, we do not know the real reason (for,去掉吧,reason后面直接跟why会好一点) why 75% of fair goers requested the sample of organic fruit. It may be (可改成it is up to会不会好一点) that those people are just curious on such fruit, or due to they are free(这个句子似乎欠妥due to that they are free) . Therefore, the author fails to convince us that the number of survey in Sun City is representative. (有代表性好像不应该这么表述,the number of survey in Sun City is persuasive)
Secondly, the author provides hasty generalization and false analogy. Even if the testing fair is successful(?) and most people of Sun City really want to buy such fruit(fruits?), there is no evidence proving that there will be really demand on other organic foods in Sun City. In addition, granted the whole organic foods are needed in Sun City, the author can not conclude that all the markets need organic foods. Because of the different customers' taste and inclination on the foods, the line of organic food, which is fit for Sun City, may not fit for other 89 markets. Therefore, according to the case in Sun City, the conclusion can not be proved necessarily and sufficiently.
Thirdly, the author reveals the wrong assumption on the increasing profits. Even if all the markets demand organic foods, there(it?) can not show that the profits will increase. Because there will be lots of additional full lines for organic foods opened in all 90 markets, the costs spent on the new lines will also increase greatly too. Thus, we can not know that the profits will finally increase(+or not) after cutting off the huge costs.
In conclusion, the conclusion(这里非常接近得用两个conclusion似乎不是很好) is not convincing. To strengthen this conclusion, we need more detailed information that there will be beneficial potential on increasing profits to open the line of organic food in all the markets.
1、文中标注的一些单词以及语法上的小问题应该多加注意
2、第一个你的反驳的理由似乎有些牵强。
