As we all know, television is very popular and has become the necessary (a necessary的用法好像比较多)in the era. Since we can learn by watching television, can we assert that television can be(可能换个情态动词更好) the only way to gain knowledge replace of reading books?(这个句子动词好像多了点) Can we think reading is not as important as before? I deem the answers are certainly not, and I will explain it from the following facets.
We have to admit that after the absence of television, we have a more way(a better way?another way?) to obtain knowledge and this way indeed has some advantages. For example, television programs are more vivid and comprehensive with the images, which make learning are not so bald. Now there are lots of TV education programs, such as teaching foreign languages, computer operations and the like, moreover, there even have some special education channels. In other words, television does help our learning.
On the other hand, every thing has two sides, so do television, especially when it is compared to reading on the learning facet, it will reveal many disadvantages(reveal这个动词用的有点怪). Firstly, TV programs are so positive that audience cannot select whatever he want to watch optionally and once a program has been played, audience cannot watch it again unless it is replayed, however, when reading books, people have more selectivity: they can go back or go forward to whichever page they want and they can pick up another book as they like. Secondly, the content of TV program may be relatively simple and not deep enough, so it will not suitable for some realms, such as science research or specialty study. We cannot image the case that we study computer operation system only by watching television. Thirdly, the speed of TV program is fixed, so it is possible to fit everyone(impossible). In addition, the TV program is often interrupted by advertisements, which will attract audience's attention and throw audience's train of thought into confusion. What's more, watching television too long will influence the eyesight dramatically, especially to children. After the compares above, we conclude that reading book is still the unshakable way to learn.
Finally, although in television age, people spend more time in watching television and relative less time in reading, it cannot show reading books is not as important as it once was. It is likely that now people are more efficient to find the knowledge(我还是觉得动词有点点问题,用get会不会好点呢?) they need (意思多余了点吧)during reading because the accessorial tools exist, such as index, Internet, or search engine(这连个差不多吧). Admittedly, television is still the entertainment tool of people's lives.
To sum up, television is indeed a way to learn, but it cannot replace the traditional reading way because reading book has many obvious predominance that television do not possess(tv是用单数还是复数的呢?). Moreover, reading books is still very important, and even more important than before, because the current society is a intellective era, and illiterate or semiliterate will feel hard to live well.
