Is making money the only goal for leaders of a company? The speaker claims so. At the first glance, it is true that leaders should place much emphasis on profits because the commercial attribute of a modern comany force them to do so. However, I cannot expel myself to agree with the speaker's viewpoint. There are far more accountabilities the leaders of a company should take.

Leaders of a company are responsible for survival and development of a company. And what makes a company living and advancing? Money. Therefore, one of the main goals of a company should be gaining more profits. Without money, Bill Gates can not make Microsoft from a small company into a tremendous empire. Without money, clubs of NBA will never afford stars like Michele Jordan. Without money, P&G will are not available to better products and new technology. None of above sounds like good new not only for those leaders but also for us normal people. Thus it is quite necessary for leaders of a company always keep their eyes on money,

Profits are what a company pursues and what they relies on for further development. However, it is too absolute to say the making money is leaders' only responsibility because there are far more things their should do to develop their company. For example, welfare of employees should never be ignored. If leaders put money on the very first place, then they may hold the money and would not like to use it on enhancing the welfare of workers. Common sense informs us that being mean to emploees will lose their loyalty. What is more, leaders must also spare no efforts to improve the image of company. If leaders only emphasize profits, then sooner or later the company will suffer regression thanks to neglect of company promotion. All in all, leadship is an comprehensive ability more than making money.

For qualified corporate executives, they should also return society even if in some cases a company will suffer a loss of money. For one thing, leaders must primarily instill a company a sense of charity. Yifu Shao, the chairman of Hong Kong Television and Broadcasting Group, spend several millions money on charity every year. When he gains profits from society, he never forgets feeding back. As a result, his company is famous for its high morality. For another thing, foresight is important for a company. Education is a key issue in modern society and need every person's involvement, especially companies. Companies can set up kinds of scholarships to encourage students to performance better and reward excellent ones. Investing in education does not bring companies any profits in decades, however, society and schools benefits a lot who will feed back companies with more invaluable talents.

To sum up, money is not a extreme goal for a company. To better run a company and to better contribute to our society, the leaders should take more responsibilities rather than only making money.
