130 "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

Nowadays, people consider cultivating children as a more important thing for a society than before because we gradually realize that young generation determines the society’s future. In the current society, children have been offered many resources to help them become more competent. Compared to our parents, the young generation has revealed a greater creativity and competence to construct a much better society.

With development of society, much more approaches are utilized to socialize children better, such as education system, media and internet. First of all, development of modern civilization requires that our education should emphasize not only on study of courses but also on the capability of solving problems as well. In addition to being good at studies, a student is also encouraged to cultivate interests in many other fields, such as art, sports which can help students meet the need of society. Besides, popular music which enriches all kinds of media has indicated that individuality and distinction are indispensible elements of modern society and apparently children are impacted to seek the distinct character for themselves. Plenty of information from internet also provides a bridge connecting the society and children and let them know more about the society life and the abilities they should have to adapt the society.

Moreover, young people have a stronger realization about competition and cooperation, which is beneficial to build a better society. In recent decades, development of society has waste a huge amount of nature resources which bring a more severe problem to human’s future. Therefore, competition becomes more intense while people’s population is increasing continuously. For example, young people are trying to enhance their competence to get an opportunity in the interview of a position. Meanwhile, cooperation has been established between individuals, companies, even countries. Globalization shows the significance of cooperation, which definitely cannot be seen in the past. It also has a positive effect on raising children.

Furthermore, the young generation has shown their vitality and has taken society responsibility than expected, which will promote modern society. For instance, a college teacher says that the current students are never as shy as the former ones. They try their best to show up and participate in any activity to prove their abilities. As we know, the young generation is always complained by adults about their lack of sense of responsibility, but after about ten years, we can see fortunately that they will become the main force of society development. And they will show the stronger cohesion than expected when the society suffers a disaster or face a crisis. Actually, a high correlation existing between destiny of individual and society teaches children to concern more about society and have more sense of responsibility.

Of course, compared to parents’ generation, young people may lack the sense of compassion and are more self-centered. However, they are the production of current society and we cannot judge them with criteria in the past.

In conclusion, children cultivated in current society have the characters of this epoch. They chase a distinct individuality and express themselves more actively. They understand the significance of competition and cooperation. They have more tight relationship with society and the sense of responsibility. The modern society has shaped them and they will show their contributions to create better society.
