后来看着不爽又加了些东西。。。感觉写的还是有点囧

TOPIC: ISSUE103 - "The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."

"History is a mirror", the issue over the study of history is always controversial in our debate. The statement above speaks that the study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. However, I do not completely agree with it. In my point of view, the study of history is extremly important and valuable no matter whether it is relevant to our daily lives.

To begin with, the experiences of the past can be a good instruction for us to continue our lives. As we have a deep understanding of the past events or trends in the long history of human beings, we will be more certain and more confident to design and adjust our plans of future development, since the experience of success in the past can provide a good way for us to meet success again. For example, in the ancient China, there is a significant leader, Sun Zi, who wrote a great book 'Art of wars' to instruct the army to make a success. The methods in that book also can be used by us in the campaign or even helpful to our daily life nowadays. As a result, some of these approaches in the war are really useful and effective to us.

Then, the failure of the past events can be the very bell that alerts us for a long time. With the acknowledgement of the experience of the ancestors, we can make a more clear understanding of the production and development and then make our society and daily lives better and better. For instance, when we look back to the past, we may find that the breaking down of many dynasties is due to the corruption of the leaders. But why these situations happens again and again in different dynasties? Suppose they are all reminded of the past, they would probably know the fact that corruption is the devil of a nation. Then would they let the history repeat? Of course not. In short, the history helps us to avoid the same failure to come out again. Just as an old saying goes, "Never make a mistake twice."

Thirdly, the history can be a good indication of our future. Especially in the fields of natrural science, some regular patterns can be repeating in the historical statistics. For example, the researchers in atmosphere can predict the weather in the next several days by studying the weather reports before and applying the weather patterns to simulate the global environment. The financiers can make an approximate results of some certain stocks by investigating the trends of them in the past few days and months and even years. Sometimes, these statistics can be really precise and accurate.

Last but not least, the importance of studying history lies not only in its instruction to our lives, but also in some other areas of our human's civilization. First, we are standing in middle of the future and the past. While the future is what we can not see through, the history is the only thing that we can investigate. Second, we human have not yet digged out the whole information about the questions of what we are, what we are living, even how we have come from, etc. With so many problems not solved by us, we are so weak that we may not be certain about the issue whether the details of the past is important and instructive to us. We may find that many things have their own values but that's only a problem about time. Perhaps now its value is hard to reflect in our daily lives, but its importance will soon loom large in the future. And third, to study the history is actually a study about human, about earth and even about the cosmic. From history, we know what the ancestors act, what they think and what they speak. From these details, we may also know much deeper about ourselves. Whatever, human itself is hard to understand, what is dependent on our future studying.

To make a conclusion, the history is instructive to our daily lives and at the same time it is also important in other realms of our civilization. And since the past is the only thing that we can investigate, the study of history is actually important enough to us human beings.
