A hero is nothing but a product of his time and the times produce their heroes.But during the past hundreds of years, the study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. I agree with the author's recommdation that the most significant events and trends in history were made by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.
It is true that we should learn from heros. Example is better than precept. If one sheep leaps over the ditch, all the rest will follow. While everyone was looking to popular athletes, actors and musicians as positive role models, great men was my inspiration, and them contiues to be all these year later.
Their story  taught me that whatever you do, do your best at it and  also taught me that even the worst day seems okay with a big mouthful of milk and cookies.

Nowadays, the great man theory is out of favor as a singular explanation for why thins happen. After all there are only few great men who can leave some indelible trace during the long history of human development.Mao ZeDong and Deng XiaoPing are two great personages who played important roles in the great historical process of China's reentering into the international society respectively.In the later years of his life, Comrade Mao Zedong was in fact not so consistent in his thinking as he previously had been, and some of his statements were mutually contradictory.Nobody is perfect . We should completely observe the great man and not  just look one side.

How could you be a Great Man if history brought you no Great Events, or brought you to them at the wrong time, too young, too old? A famous Chiese educator Li Da-zhao once said  that a hero is nothing but a product of his time and great personalities sought truth and learned in practice. Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor and the only plebeian emperor of the Chinese history, can talentedly show himself and constitute achievements, for there are many aspects of subjective and the current situation.

It is not the great man but groups of people create the history. It is not heroes that make history, but history that makes heroes.Review of last year's Olympic figure for the articles you recall the last day of the Olympic Games for China won the team gold to create two Chinese boxing history. It is the result of the whole Chinese team's hard work , not any single person.  Marxism emphasized that  who creates history.They are man creates its own history and masses of the people are makers of history and the people are the real makers of history.

Most of the famous individuals are widely mentioned in history because of their superb leadership skills. Yet when it really mattered, it was the group effort that made the difference. Yet, there are a few exceptioncal cases where the individual reigned supreme.
