题目:ISSUE11 - "All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems."
In recent years, the topic of how to tackle with the world's most persistent social problems is so hot that people varing from personalities as well as backgrounds tend to observe this same issue from diversified perspectives. A seemingly acceptable proposal is that a global university should be established to fight with the hard tasks. Although I'm not pleased with the feeling of being an critic, I would rather stand on the opposite of this claim and reckon that it is a mission impossible and even useless to build such a university for improving the situation.
First of all, I have to concede that the majority of the most tough problems contemporary are world-wide so that all nations are responsible for allying with others to settle them. Nevertheless, many factors such as the location, the source of teachers, salaries, and realias are supposed to be considered in deep before founding a university. A new persistent social problems may be hence produced if every nation is doing nothing but waiting for others to provide the university’s fund from their own taxpayers, what is a familiar picture in international political fields of the time.
To go further, even if we are ready for everything and the university has been constructed, whether it can operate fluently is still questionable. As students from different countries have various cultures and characters, professors would feel difficult to satisfy each of their students' personal interests and needs, what is so significant for a effective system of education. What's more, the university officials would be busy to console students who can not get familiar with the living standards of the school which is distinct from their motherlands.
At last, even though the university has conquered all of above troubles and a portion of her students are going to graduate soon, these graduates might be awkward in serving as a key to tackle with the world's most persistent social problems. Colleges are able to provide knowledges and skills to their students, but a truly efficient problem solver is supposed to adopt the theories learned from schools in practical works in order to gain precious experiences which are also significant qualities for him. It is ridiculous to depend on such raw guadutors to resolve those stubborn problems that have puzzled our seasoned political leaders for decades.
To sum up, the potential risks brought by a global university would be larger than the prospective benefits. It is more advisable for us to seek for some other methods in order to solve the most complex problems in the world.
