As one of the few laboratories worldwide offering the opportunity to study
element metabolism in vivo using stable isotope techniques, research at
NutriTrace@NUS gives the candidate the opportunity to make use of isotope
ratio mass spectrometry in an applied context of direct relevance to human
well-being.
The project will be related to iron metabolism and wil focus on the
development and application of new biomarkers of iron metabolism, to assess
possible risks associated with a high dietary iron intake and the
determination of iron requirments.
ONE PhD scholarship is immediately available for the semester starting in
January, 2013 in this laboratory.

. strong interest and desire for interdisciplinary research in an
emerging area of inorganic mass spectrometry
The successful candidate will receive a PhD scholarship that covers tuition
fees (4 years) with a monthly stipend S$2000 initially which will
subsequently be topped up to S$2500 after the candidate passes the
Qualifying Exam.
