Issue109:
题目:
The purpose of many advertisements is to make consumers want to buy a product so that they will 'be like' the person in the ad. This practice is effective because it not only sells products but also helps people feel better about themselves.
1、 聘请名人代言给商家带来收益,给顾客带来满足感(与偶像更接近)
2、 一些广告并为help people feel better (减肥)
3、 我们同时也需要广告
正文
The advertisement campaign is the one of the most crucial process in business. I concede the point of the speaker that the advertisements help producers earn a good profits science the sale is enhanced. However, the claim that people feel better about themselves is not always true.
To begin with, the advertisements always invite celebrities to be their representatives of products, because fans of the celebrities are the prospective customers of their products. They admire and love those stars so that they would like to have the same products as their idols own. When the famous stars wear the products of one brand, it sparks the inclination of their fans to imitate their behaviors since they want to be closer with their idols in every aspect. For instance, Backham and his team bring huge income for Adidas Company every year. And every announcement for setting up the cooperation between a famous star and a company would attract numerous journalists to report the news, and in its turn reach the goal of publicizing. To do this, the star earn lots of money for he or her works, the company successfully sells his products and the customers feel better about themselves to the extent that they own the same product as their idols.
However, sometimes the advertisement does not make people feel better but lead to false hope and disappointment. The advertisement for losing weight is an apt example to illustrate this point. Having a good shape is one of today's fashions, and many people are trying their every effort to find the most effective and successful method to lose weight. The copywriters just catch the very feeling of the viewers and use many successful examples to transmit the information that their products can solve our problems as soon as possible. After repeatedly seeing the significant difference between the people using the products before and after, it is difficult for any of us even those who claims that they can see through the tactic of the advertisement, cannot resist the lure of supernatural effect of products. However, the end result for the customers is an unhealthy preoccupation with physical appearance, which often leads to low self-esteem, eating disorders, injuries from over-exercise, and so forth. Although the company successfully sells the products, yet the customers get no benefit from it but being cheated and collapse of health.
Even though the advertisements have persuaded us to buy a product we do not want, they still provide us with the resent information of products to help us choice what we need. If there were no advertisement in our world, how would we choice facing numerous products of the same function? In this sense, we might be more confused and more possible to make a wrong decision. Since an advertisement would demonstrate the significant function and trait of one product, then we can decide which feature is more suitable to what we really need. And to some degree, we enjoy the aesthetic experience brought by advertisement, which add more color to our life.
In conclusion, advertisements make us be more familiar and clear about countless products in the market. On one side, it is effective to sale the products by convincing prospective customers the fact that they will be like the person in ad and satisfy the idolaters needs for being closer to his idols. On the other side, they are equally ineffective in helping consumers feel better about themselves. In fact, the result is a dense of false hope, disappointment, or even a sense of failure.
