As the wheel of society turns at its accelerating and eternal velocity into the 21st century, the human history is growing older and older. Naturally, every person is born with a curiosity about "past", asking "where am I from" and "why have I come". There even a portion of people that believe in the immortality of spirits wondering what had they been before the last birth. Then comes the history and historians, finding out and recording what happened in the past and the relevant persons involved. So few names are recognized and remembered that some people allege that too much emphasis are placed on individuals. Is this true?

To answer this question, what is sensible to do first is to ascertain the function of each individual in any certain accident or incident. According to the variety of scales of happenings, diverse persons, depending on their contributions to the very happening, may be of diverse importance. In a war, for example, there must be leaders determining how to fight as well as followers who carry out the fight with arms. When a theory is articulated, for another example, a scientist or a group of scientists are participated. Among the group, only one or two individual will be regarded as the greatest devotee or devotees, because of the original idea or the formation of thoughts.

In all sorts of events or trends, particularly those involving considerable populations, not all participants' names are memorized by public, but only a small part suggested being the most important instead. Classify the happenings in accordance with scales. Wars such as the Civil War, the foundation of countries such as the USA, and certain kinds of culture trends are all instances for the "greater" class. In this case, only the leaders, the governors, the most loyal followers or others special are written in history. A case in point is that when discussing the foundation of the USA, no one will forget Washington, yet neglecting the average citizens.

Here comes the emphasis declared by many people. However whether the emphasis is too much still needs justification. As a matter of fact, it is the minority of population who create the bulb, lead a war, win an Olympic champion, and begin the field of Calculus, resulting in the significance of their names. Although the most significant events and trends in history could not attribute to a unique individual, it is the leaders that orient, make people conscious with a certain item.

History, the building block of culture, reveals what happens before and let average people know who contributed most. Although seemingly unfair for those groups of people forgotten, it is justified by the reason of "impact".
