144. "It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value." a person who evaluates works of art, such as novels, films, music, paintings, etc.
艺术家而不是评论家带给了社会一些具有持久价值的东西。
评论家指的是评价艺术作品的人，例如小说、电影、绘画等。
观点：艺术家的却给社会带来了有持久价值的东西，但评论家也有一定作用。
提纲：
1 艺术品的作用之一是给人已希望和勇气, 这些都是引导人走向成功的因素。（例子，电影《肖申克的救赎》给人以希望。）
2 艺术品的另一个价值就是给人快乐, 还有一个价值是传递religious information。
3 虽然这些价值都是艺术家创造出来的，但是评论家的作用也不可忽视，因为有些艺术品不是大众都能理解的，需要评论家来解释。评论家实际上是使艺术得到更多的人的欣赏。
正文：
The speaker claims that the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value. From my point of view, I concede that artists play an important role in creating social value to the public. However it is the critic who explains the essence of the work of art to people and therefore the role of the critic could not be ignored.

To begin with, an important purpose of art is to give people hope and courage, which are the determinants of success. There is a persuadable example to support this point. As is known to all, the famous and impressive piece of film, the Shawshank Redemption is always considered to be powerful drama that reminds us hope is a precious and buoyant emotion that can give our lives substance and meaning. In this story, Andy, the leading actor, does not relinquish one thing which leads him to freedom: hope. And I still remember the classical lines:" Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies." which has encouraged me for many years. When I encounter setback and feel depressed, this line will appear in my mind and make me convince that I have ability to achieve my goal one day as long as I insist. Therefore art has remarkable power to create hope and courage which makes us live more optimistically.

Moreover, art is able to give us pleasure through beautiful and charming work and also can make visible things which have passed away. For instance, artists make images of god, deity and some historical figures which are utilized to inform religious ideas. Some of the vital architecture are religious structure, such as Roman Cathedral which is decorated by religious behavior of people in ancient time and shows the power of god. And some other architecture may reflect the status of people who built it through scrutiny of the scale, decoration and organization. Thus through the art work it is helpful for people to know what had happened in history time.

Admittedly the work of art is produced by the artist, however it is not reasonable to neglect the function of critic who has special capability of interpretation and explaining the essence and spirit of art because without some professional and specific knowledge it is difficult for the public to understand the meaning of art work. Usually the responsibility of critic is to describe the detailed information of a piece of art by using professional knowledge in historical view, which facilitates the public to interpret the art more comprehensive. In fact, the critic make the art communicate and delight more people and is a stimulant to complete the lasting value of art.

In conclusion, art serves a variety of functions to achieve the social value. And I concede the extremely significant role of artists to give society lasting value, yet on the other hand it is wise to acknowledge the role of critics who make people easier understand the spirit and symbolism of art.

convince me that, don't use make
too many "make", use "enable" as a substitute might be better
try to use ",", seperate long sentences, less confusing
points are clear and good communicate with reader, diverse sentences and expansive volcabularies
no further ideas
