TOPIC: ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

The author asserts that how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society in the future. Yet we have not learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society. In my point of view, the socialization of children indeed determine how many achievements they can contributed to the society, but on the issue that whether our children could help construct a better society, I fundamentally disagree with the author.

First of all, socialization, as we understand, is a kind of conception and activity that people could communicate with other people well and meet the needs of society, which demands us to have the good capacity of cooperation. Actually, the modern society is urgently in need of talents who have the good spirits of cooperation, as we know, with the development of technology the multi-disciplinary subjects emerge gradually, which ask the specialist who dominated in their individual fields to research the same project together. Only when the specialists get on well with each other, express their own thoughts and respect other's opinions, can they benefit from the cooperation and make breakthrough in the subject. Moreover, even in our common daily life, we also require the spirit of cooperation. For example, when we play basket ball, the player who has sophisticated kills is helpful for us to win the game, however, the real determinant factors is the team spirit, which ask the teammates hand the ball unselfishly and do whatever the team want him to do, even the hardest work such as grabbing the basketball. Thus, the socialization of children is an vital factor influencing the future of society.

Secondly, consider the author's next claim . In my opinion, whether we have learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society depends on the definition of the "better society". If we define "better" society as one featured by great tolerance of viewpoint of different people, great respect to individual's rights and greater cooperation across the cultural and national boundaries, then the young people of the recent half century are creating a better society. We have witnessed the increasing sensitivity in our society towards ensuring public health by taking measures about our food and environmental problems. We can view people as more sensitive and respect the privacy of individual, the equal rights of women and never discriminate the minor ethnic races. Undoubtedly, through the combination between advanced technology and high moral standard can the young generation be sure to create a better society than before.

To sum up, due to the analysis and discussions mentioned above, we could make the conclusion that the socialization of children is the determinate ingredients influencing the future and our children are creating a more colorful and diversified better world than before.
