Admittedly, a sense of cooperation is one of the essential characteristics of leadership. Task in any area is not an individual work but should be undertaken through cooperative efforts. For example, development of a certain software product will undergo four stages of procedure: researching, developing, testing and marketing. If a team leader is, say research team leader, unwilling to communicate and cooperate with the development team leader, the absence of cooperation will definitely lead to the fail of the software product. This illustrates that a leader without a sense of cooperation cannot go any further in any field.

Furthermore, a series of social problems and even international conflicts might receive adequate solutions through cooperative efforts mutually. In the society level, take the environmental problems for example, the efforts not only rely on the environmental scientists but also on economists, politicians, law-makers and most important, the citizens. In other words, it is our human beings’ cooperative efforts to help solve the social problems rather than any individual’s determinations. Another example lies in the international level, the war-which is an extreme form of interest conflict, inevitably occurs between nations due to economic, political or ideological reason. If people have a strong sense of cooperation and can sit down and make a concession to each other, these problems can be handled early or late.

Admittedly, the cooperation is born accompanied with competition and competition itself is not harmful, instead, adequate competition keeps people cool-headed, gives people a sense of anxiety and urges people to learn more. However, over-emphasis on competition is the source of devil in humanity, such as jealousy, greed, deception, and so on. Take a look at the un-regular market economy, especially the stock exchange market in the United States in the 1920s, one could easily find out that over-competition will lead to economical collapse. After the year of 1933, American economy came back to the normal orbit because of the cooperative efforts from the supervisory association to the government’s macro-control.
